To whomever decided to hack SR and use my name -
I do not take to people imitating me, and should you have been able to access my details, then I *will* find you and your details, either from members here or other means - and I will pay you a visit.

I'm not strutting or joking, I am 100% serious about this.
I will locate you and I will make you cry, don't think I can't or won't.
Because I'm stupid like that, and wherever you are in the country is easily reachable.

Whichever stupid little boy hacked SR and used my name, apologise or once I find out who you are and where you live, you will witness anger the likes of which you have never experienced.

I do NOT want stupid spam following this post, I do NOT want idiot schoolkids mouthing off.
You're in my world now and you mean precisely zero to me.

Sorry Loki, I don't mean to sound like some red-faced netwarrior of security or owt!
I've had concerns regarding security and availability of information before, and SR have always assured me that your security is absolutely top-notch and any issues have always been dealt with speedily.

I've been the victim of net-fraud once before that cost me a couple of thousand pounds - not with, by or involving SR at all, this was another site altogether - so I'm cautious as hell about my details and credit card info.

I do believe SR to be reputable and reliable, it's my paranoia and been-burned-before attitude that makes me quick to voice concerns.
Which is why I'm bloody furious with those reponsible for imitating me and giving me cause to think my account had been compromised.

Cheers Loki, I'll shut up about this now.

Surely you should be more concerned with those who claimed to have hacked you, rather than those who said it appeared you had been hacked ?

Did anyone see Tribute boasting this under his own account? The only comments I noticed were using the 'ghost' account. It could have been someone just setting him up. But I will go and look through his posts now to check. There are a couple of accounts we believe to be involved, and we will ban anyone found responsible for the disruption.

Good reply, Loki.

I think some of us forget that the staff actually have lives to live, and this a merely a job.

Loki - I didn't mean that you guys should be monitoring this all night, but Snuggly obvisouly saw something going on because he posted to that effect at around 7PM, and it was him because his name was coloured right and with his tagline, admittedly at that time it seemed like just one person, and to be fair there was stuff all Snuggly could have done at that stage.

My point was that since it started around 7PM, and as Goatboy has pointed out, other users will have wondered just how secure the site is, especially if they don't understand how the forum works in relation to information about them. Loads of people have seen other users imitated, and Tribute boasting about sending himself stuff, knowing people's addresses etc Last night, a lot of people had no way of knowing this was not true, and whilst those who wondered about it now know those guys were lying, thanks to you and Snuggly posting to that effect, who knows how many saw that and were just browsing, or won't return ?

Goatboy, I agree that all this talk doesn't reflect well on SR. But, our site security is actually very good and we take every measure to make sure our order system stays that way.

Snuggly will be going round the forums this morning, deleting threads which allege that we have been hacked. If we did have any concerns with security we would address them on the forums. By removing threads, we are not covering anything up. But accusations of a hack will damage our reputation and, as these accusations are not true, some comments I have read may be considered libellous.

Staff: FYI Users can imitate other users by replacing a lowercase L with an uppercase i, as they look the same. I don't know if there is anything that you can do about this, or even if you are bothered, but I thought I oughta let you know.

Tcha, thanks.

I'm not doubting Loki's assurances, what I find annoying is that the actions of a couple of morons can give the impression to browsers that aren't 100% savvy with coding, or just see a warning from staff, can cause concern re ordering.

I couldn't be bothered to read through the whole thread, just saw a number of users imitated and Tribute boasting to having everyone's details.
That was enough for me.
Loki's promised the servers remain intact, and I believe him, but I'd like to choke Tribute until he passes out for thinking it's clever or amusing to boast on a public forum how he's obtained private details of users.

It's idiotic and causes alarm to people that don't have their parents pay for their stuff.
