I have done several speedtests since midday today and I have not got over 2.6mb/s.
My last results a minute ago from bt speed tester were:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 13789 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1152 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 11000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1586 kbps
My current router stats are:
IP 11000k
Data Rate: 13790 1153
Noise M 12 5
Ooutput Power 125 203
Att 37 14
I appreciate ALT kicks in sometimes, but this looks like a fault.
Are there any server issues currently?

Faraday WBC looks to be in a much better state than the IPSC node.
My test just after 8am this morning was fine - but just after 10am the node went into the red (low 90%'s) and the ALT kicked in.
Since then I'm only getting around a third of my IP Profile :¬(
[s]Hmmm...[/s] BT Speedtester is working again for me this morning :¬)
Just recorded first test - full IP Profile with node running at 62% - we'll see what happens later.
NB. In case speedtester.bt.com should stop working for me, if you look at my previous logged results it will give you some more data.
What node are Freeola using - I guess you have a few lines there?
[s]Hmmm...[/s] > Sorry if you've received the email and it's not relevant to you.

Ok Eccles, no problem - will see what I can do to help the cause.
The problem is that we need several users to do the same test over a period of time to see if it is something like a capacity problem on certain interconnects only or perhaps the ALT is not functioning correctly. We'll know when results get sent in, we forward them on and get a response.
Yes that's the email - Eccles has based it on a 'Support Ticket'.
Birmingham doesn't appear to be one of the Freeola nodes that's in trouble. Faraday and Sheffield are often in a bad way.
Different nodes have different usage patterns throughout the day depending where they are. My node (Faraday IPSC - City of London) has been under pressure during the day lately - from around 10.30 to about 6 or 7pm. Others behave differently depending where their user base is.
i.e Some will be busier in the evening than others.
When we were still on 'Central Pipes' you could move to a quieter pipe - but you can't move 'nodes' without moving house!
I've only just been able to see my full 'IP Profile' of throughput today - most of the day I've been running on a third of what my line should get!
I can appreciate it's a difficult balancing act to get everyone's line running at it's optimum - but I'm afraid that's not my problem!
It's hard enough getting over long line issues and BT's daft IP Profile system - not having enough capacity to go round IS something that can be sorted.

The above may well answer my query: Received a email regarding the above:
Your Enquiry (received on 2009-10-14 18:33:26):
Slow connection
I presume the date and time refer to when you sent the email not when I reported a problem - because I haven't got one at the moment, all is working fine. Last marked as 'high bandwidth user' 22nd July 2009'. Every time I've looked at enta.net ALT has been off. I'm connected to the Birmingham node, IPSC which is at 74% at the moment, if it helps.
I'll certainly do the tests for you, but rest assured that I don't have a problem as stated in the email at today's date.
I see it mentions using the speedtester.bt.com results - see my previous reply below. Hopefully this will be working for me again tomorrow?
But I've posted a number of results from the official BT tester (along with my node and ALT status) here lately so perhaps you can still use them?
NB. I see this problem is still outstanding so it's important people use the adsl.enta.net address and not the one that may be shown in their account details.
[s]Hmmm...[/s] > ... produce a large amount of evidence.
Nice to hear Freeola admitting there is a problem at last!!! :¬)
I've been 'tip-toeing' around for quite a while as I like to be polite!
You should see what some of the other forums are saying!
NB. If I try to run BT's official speedtester I get this today:
"The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection."
I know it can be problematic but it's the first time I haven't been able to get it to run...
