What troubles me about 9/11 is that if it had happened to some financial building in Africa. The coverage wouldn't have been anything like it was.
i have summed it up to people before and they have agreed that it been considered an even worse crime because:
A bunch of rich, white Americans died.
They are somehow more important than other people in the world.
This sickens me and lessens my sympathy for America.
Obviously I'm generalising but I think my point is clear.

No-one that lived through it (at an old enough age) is going to forget it. It'll remain in their memories until they die.
You can't just blank out a massive memory such as that. One that had so much impact across the world.

I don't believe a military aircraft opened fire on a civilian jet. Someone would have seen it, and it would have been on many civilian ATC and scientific radars. If it was shot down by a jet, it would have been all over the news, there's no way the feds could cover that up.
What i dont get is why are the FBI etc being so secretive about it?

Very true, Bush is finishing what his father left behind from the Gulf. If countries (or extremists from that country) like afghanistan, Iraq or Syria hate America so much, maybe Bush should do something to find out why and try to keep the peace. As for Bush attacking lots of countries because they have 'links' to Al quaida or Saddam Hussien etc. I think people won't stand up for it much longer, there was a lot of trouble caused by attacking just Iraq, and I predict much more when, or if, Bush decides attacks its neighbouring countries. I think Blair should also start to think like the Prime Minister of a country, rather than Bush's side kick.
Terrorists, 'rogue states' and all that were around before.
Bush wraps himself in the flag and the US gets to go to war. Its great they mean well in 'ridding' the world of terror (with war........hmm) and if its actually working is an entirely different and lengthy debate. But the fact that there was little apparent (in comparison to now) initiative to find and destroy terror cells before September 11th is just a tad annoying.
And after all, why are terrorist groups like Eta'a (or whatever) being sorted out?

You could argue that your initial viewpoint is based upon political correctness, so not sure you can escape it by generalising. :)
Another thought- Sept 11th was a horrific tragedy and I can't help feeling that it provided the perfect opportunity for Bush to invade Afghanistan. This invasion of Afghanistan opened the door to the Iraqi war, and now it looks as if Iran will be invaded too. It seems that the emotions of the wounded American people following Sept 11th are being exploited by Bush as an excuse for him to do anything he wants to!
As soon as the American weapons inspectors start looking, here's betting that thos elusive WOMD wil turn up and this will open the floodgates for attacks on Syria etc.
First off i'd like to just say this topic is very disrespectful to those who died on 9/11 and their families of which involves me as i lost a cousin in the attacks. Whether he was rich, white or American i can't see makes any difference when a human being has been murdered (and he wasn't rich actually he was visiting a friend in the building). From your statement there it seems to me if they had hit a building that was full of poor black people who weren't American then it'd have been a bigger tradegy. That's what it seems to me.
Secondly did you ever think it got so much news coverage because
1) Most of the major news networks in the world are American or American owned so of course they're going to cover something that happened in their country this big.
2) They hit a very influential financial building that affects the whole world not just America.
3) They hit the Pentagon the heart of America's military.
4) Or just maybe the fact that 3,000+ people died was enough to make it a tad newsworthy?
Just because it happened in America makes absolutely no difference. Although to turn your statement around maybe the fact it happened in America mostly to the American people (don't forget other nationalities died that day) is why it doesn't get as much sympathy if it had happened somewhere like Italy. Oh, there arrogant stupid fat Americans who cares about them right? They deserve it and i've heard alot of that from moronic people who live in the same city as me which really makes me sick to my stomach to just be a human yet alone English.
These people were human beings the same as you and me. They hadn't hurt anyone, they were just trying to do their jobs and get on with their lives until an evil man decided he wanted to kill as many people as he could.
And as far as over reacting goes sorry but the American government didn't go in all guns blazing on the first country it saw on a map of the world it waited until it got all the intelligence it could to pin point Osama Bin Laden as the mastermind of this autrocity and gave warning upon warning to the countries government to either hand him over or they'd come and get him. Waiting a few months and giving warnings before attacking to me isn't over reacting, they waited far longer then they should have in my opinion anyway just because all the other countries in the world suddenly changed their sentiments from sympathy to worrying about whether America was going to blow up the whole world or something
Sorry but i just had to get that off my chest, most of it probably won't make sense as it's written in a very emotional mood but i just needed to say it as this whole topic has got me very angry along with many other anti-american topics that litter this place and was the main reason i stopped coming here before. Let the people just rest in peace.
