Thanks guys.

No news as yet, but still busy clearing the garage out, which takes my mind off things at the moment.

Hope the job situation works out in your favour pb. Been through it too many times myself and it always seems to be around this time of year.

And good luck with getting that long lie DL, you certainly deserve one.

Evening all ... finally managed the long trip to register the death and pulled in collecting my dad's belongings from the care home ... only to realise that his watch was still with the hospital and they hadn't mentioned it.

Never mind, something else off the tick list. My sister and I decided that it could stay there for a while!

Funeral Directors tomorrow, now that I have things and then on to his bank ... happy days!

Just wondering when I can actually have a 'lie in' at the moment ... not had a good sleep for 5 weeks.

Genuinely sorry to hear you two are having such a crap time right now. Life isn't like a box of chocolates like Forrest said, you get a small card in one of those telling you exactly what you're going to get. If anything it's more like one big bag of Revels!

Hopefully you can stay strong through it and you can celebrate your father's life as much as mourning his death. He sounds like someone who should have their life celebrated.

Most certainly ... but I don't have the 'where with all' until the nasty jobsworths decide that they can actually be nice people!

As for me, found out I was in a pool of redundancies today. Great. We find out on Friday who the 'lucky' person (out of 3 of us) is. This also happens to be the day of the works Christmas Party.

Was in exactly the same position 4 years ago, told 21st December! There were 31 of us then and only 2 to my knowledge have continued employment ... we all received redundancy 23rd January.

Int life brill ;¬)

On a happier note, went to see my youngest in her Christmas Advent service today, which was nice (though they put her at the back behind the bigger children so all I saw was a head poking out from round someone's shoulders).

And sorting out insurance after someone went in to the back of my car yesterday. Luckily just minor damage, but organising garages and co-ordinating with insurance and hire vehicle company is a nightmare.

Hope it all gets sorted, DL. Just sounds like a lot of paperwork and fiddling about.

That is what life is all about pb ... but death is worse!

It's a collection of sanctimonious people, who suddenly pop up, to make matters worse and to delay things. Finally took a step forward today and retrieved the Medical Certificate of Death. Have to return tomorrow to register the death ... another 3 hour round trip. Then, and only then, can my sister and I get an official appointment with the Funeral Directors and get a date. We also have to contact his financial services, which is also going to be a nightmare ...

there are too many barriers for remaining family when their parents have died and too many people making millions out of 'death'!

Still, press on and plan tomorrow's assault ;¬)

@pete ... many, many thanks mate :¬)
