Sorry to hear that DL. It really isn't a good year for you. I can only hope the new year brings you some better times.
My son's surgery was rescheduled to this morning! He was in lots of pain this morning and the plastic consultant reassessed the situation. Descision at lunch time became a decision at tea time ... meanwhile his entire arm has become terrible swollen! We visited this afternoon and again this evening ... he's not happy and neither are we, but weekends are a bad time to do anything as far as a hospital is concerned!
I've been to too many establishments over the last few months and I can safely say that my youngest son isn't getting the attention that his elder brother got in the same hospital 16 years ago!
And somebody has just reminded me that it's Christmas next week
... so what's next ;¬)
my youngest son has had his right hand crushed by a metal bending machine earlier this afternoon!
After many hours waiting in A&E he has now been admitted for at least the weekend and is now awaiting surgery early tomorrow morning ... an 'open fracture' and plastic surgery have been mentioned ... not good!
Daughter-in-law mentioned that she'd bought him an XBox One for Christmas last week ... not a lot of good now, now that his right hand may likely be inoperative!
Isn't Christmas great! A time for family and family celebrations ... fat chance Santa!
Mornin' all :)
Afternoon all and welcome back Smedders :¬)
But now I'm just ready for bed.

Misty and cold today. A proper winter morning, then.
Not a bad start to the day here pb ... sunshine and then drizzle and then sunshine.
The funeral and wake went well.
A family friend unexpectedly arrived ... Colin Dexter ... author of Inspector Morse etc etc ... so we had a good chat and also one of my dad's wartime squadron pilots arrived.
He flew with my dad. My dad saved his life by shooting down a kamikaze before it hit the carrier just as he was landing on board! That's life for you but death is so hard.[/i]
If only our lives accomplished as much. Death, unfortunately, comes to us all but it's what we accomplish in life that is so important and it sounds like his life was one well lived.

My youngest is still not feeling great, so that means working from home for me today so the eldest can go to school. Tomorrow is the school's Christmas Dinner so hopefully she feels better for that.
Evening pb and all ...
Hope your youngest is ok and that you're all going to be OK for Christmas. Funeral is tomorrow, so had my granddaughter today which was lovely :¬)
Also had a chap around to begin Probate ... I'll suggest that you all heed his advice and put things in place now, as this will alleviate potential problems in the future. Not something that you want to consider at the moment but well worth doing. I'll post suggestions soon ...[/i]
It's a good suggestion and I know people who have done something about it. I guess none of us really want to think about these things, though.
I hope the funeral goes well (as well as these things can go) and you can find some emotional support from those around you at the time.
