Sad news
My son told me of Terry's passing when he arrived home from work. I was so shocked! I knew he had Alzheimer's disease, like my dad, but I hoped it wouldn't take him from us so quickly. I love the Discworld books and am still reading 'Raising Steam' ... in fact I've started it 4 times, found it so funny, that I've had to start again :¬)
R.I.P Terry ... a big loss mate, but up there will be a better place with you now ... on the back of the turtle :¬)
Still Outrun 3D is out on the Nintendo 3DS e-store today and most of the other Sega classic 3D games are discounted when the store updates, so I'll be grabbing a few of those.
I've been counting the days and wished the family a Happy OutRun day this morning and got the expected strange looks; they clearly don't share my excitement. It was one of my favourite arcade games as a kid and I still love it. If only I'd known the other classics were on sale, I might have held off on my 3 recent purchases.
Odd start to the day, had to be at home as my eldest has a really nasty veruca that has been hurting over night so giving them a lift in to school. All of which means working from home this morning and catching the later bus in, so the day is going to seem a little fragmented.
Then, at lunch time, it will be soup cooking and serving for comic relief (followed by a big clear up, I guess).

I don't think there's a North/South divide, it's a big circle type thing that centres around London and the outlying areas. All those things are as alien to us in the proper South as they are to you.
'please yourself' ;¬)
... I am well impressed at how quickly sheep can move when there is food to be devoured.
Sounds just like my eldest son dave ;¬)
Back from the 'depths' of Bedfordshire ... 185 miles later! Crematorium was easy to find as we've been there before for Mrs DL's uncle's funeral ... but there is always a 'but' down there with 'Bedford' people! Just as Mrs DL's cousin said to me after the funeral ... 'they always do this!' and with that I had to agree.
After the funeral we were all invited to a 'tea room' in some forgotten hamlet off the map. The family knew where they were going but the majority of the family from the Wirral, Malvern, Solihull, Leicestershire hadn't a clue!
So what ensues is a 'Monte Carlo or Bust' situation with all concerned 'locking on' with sat navs or trying to follow someone else! This journey involved many incidents of the 'race' participants passing one another on the same road :¬)
We all finally arrived at the hidden Tea Rooms and all parked facing different directions ... as if to suggest 'we came the right way'!
Tea was acceptable and Mrs DL was happy to see her cousins yet again ... one is now a Sir!
I was the only one who realised the severity of our predicament! No one knew how to ... get home!! Sat Navs didn't work!
I consulted my 2008 Road Map and using ancient knowledge orientated the map to suit our position ... and Indiana Jones like, found our exit route :¬)
I did, however, ask a passing postman ... 'Which way to the M1?' To which he replied ... 'I can do the A1 but I don't know the M1'
Ok, sorry for asking ... Gordon Bennett!!! it's not rocket science and we are in 2015!
However, we're back now and so are some of the other 'outlanders'.
Tomorrow final meter readings at my dad's house and keys to the Estate Agents and then on Friday, oh joy of joys ... completion!!!
Oh yes ;¬)
EDIT:
One of Mrs DL's cousins, some are not as old as us, has a daughter who's in her last year at Sheffield Uni. He mentioned that they visit frequently and are astounded by the 'welcome' they receive from people!
Cup of Tea, Coffee? Are you sure? Biscuit? Anything to eat?
This was all offered for free
This is a normal response up here I replied ...
Later he returned to Essex and was astonished by the the North/South difference ... at home in Essex, he was asked to either buy something or to pay for it ... which is basically the same thing ... when faced with the same situation!
