Grix, you're still alive? Waltzing in here with your book recommendations. What do you think we are? a bunch of intellectuals! How many exclamation marks can I still fit into this paragraph?! Do you care? No? Okay, then!
Concerning fantasy novels - I'd love to read more than I do, but have you tried the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss? I love his style of writing and the characters, and the world he's built in it is very real to me
He's just got a deal to make a movie and a continuing tv series (and games, I think?) from his (so far two) books. The books are meant to be a trilogy and his third book I'm waiting patiently for.
Here:
Book 1: The Name of the Wind Amazon
Book 2: The Wise Man's Fear Amazon
And there's a little novella too that expands the story of one of the characters, Ari, but doesn't make much sense without reading the two books first.
I thought it worth mentioning because now that it's got screen stuff coming, it might be nice to get in to read before the screen sets the imagination in stone, as it does
Evening all ... Happy Balentines Day, as my grandaughter calls it :¬)
Youngest son's birthday (granddaughter's dad) as well ... he's 29 and I still think of him as a lot younger, but he's done well.
Mother-in-law is here as well for the celebrations, as her birthday is tomorrow! Whoop eeeeee ... she's already getting on my wires and I've got to take her back home on Tuesday with a list of 'jobs' as long as your arm ... happy days ;¬)
Hope you've managed to get some time to yourself. Saying, that, we've been busy today, too. I had an hour to play Battlefront today.

Cold start but I had to run for the bus this morning, anyway, so warmed up pretty fast after that!
Now...to coffee!
Fingers sting but looks like avoided the worst of it by keeping it cold for as long as possible.
Speaking of cold, it's pretty chilly here in my house.
Way back when ... I read The Hobbit and was enthralled and that led to reading The Lord of The Rings, which I subsequently read many times ... probably 30 reads at least. I had my 'vision' of Middle Earth and I wasn't happy with some of the early 'movie-based' adaptations. But there you go ...
Now I see advertised " Shannara...The Chronicles" ...
Looking for something to replace The Lord of The Rings in 1977 I fell upon The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks and was smitten! There followed The Elfstones of Shannara and The Wishsong of Shannara ... an excellent trilogy, one that I would recommend reading a few times.
Now I see that a TV programme is scheduled to begin ... The Shannara Chronicles ... this is apparently 'loosely' based on the original trilogy! Don't like the word 'loosely' and I don't like what I've seen recently ... rant over ;¬)
Long ago I learned to separate tv/movie adaptions and books. The two mediums require different techniques, different story-telling methods and, obviously, will rely on translation from the reader's mind. I do, however, feel your pain in that respect.
Speaking of pain, just burnt myself cooking pancakes and now my thumb and finger are throbbing, even after many minutes of cold taps and ice packs. Blisters will ensue, I'm sure.
