Olympics 2008 thread...
Full Olympics Medal Table from the BBC.

GB's roll of honour (again from the BBC).

I've been quite impressed with the opening ceremony - I watched most of it live this afternoon and I'm watching the highlights as I type this.

I hope 'we' can pull off something as respectable in 2012!!!

The BBC say 4bn people will be watching!
I was surprised to see Sara Brightman had got in there singing the Olympics anthem (good for album sales!).

I did a Google and some Chinese sites say she is from the USA! :¬(

Let's hope it's a good one - it's certainly started rather well...

Cool we won a third gold medal. Just 3 more and we'll tie with Phelps.

I just watched a clip of Phelps getting his 6th Gold...

I like it when he finishes and takes his cap off to reveal...
another cap! He should put about 5 on and keep peeling them off.

Athletics starts now - this is where the USA start winning a few more.

Being beautiful and good at athletics are mutually exclusive. Attractive women really dont feel the need to validate themselves by actually achieving anything, they're quite happy living vicariously through the sucess of others. I mean even when they try, they're really not that good (stand up Anna Kournikova) and besides all that, being overly fit means no boobs. The olypic village is always going to be fuglyville.

Team GB is pretty ugly everyday. There should be a clear rule for women entering the olympics, gold medal potential or eye candy. I dont see the point in sending ugly women who arent going to win anything.

today has been a pretty ugly performance by Team gb. No medals and a lot of them falling to superior competition. Especially in badminton. They deserve to be lynched for their crap performance.

The British girls are still doing well on the medal front, but it's early days...

Here's a link to "GB's roll of honour" (again from the BBC).

I've been watching quite a lot of this recently because i'm not sleeping at night. I like the archery and swimming (someone needs to stop that bloody Phelps), love the boxing and i'm looking forward to the football tomorrow.
