Olympics 2008 thread...
Full Olympics Medal Table from the BBC.

GB's roll of honour (again from the BBC).

I've been quite impressed with the opening ceremony - I watched most of it live this afternoon and I'm watching the highlights as I type this.

I hope 'we' can pull off something as respectable in 2012!!!

The BBC say 4bn people will be watching!
I was surprised to see Sara Brightman had got in there singing the Olympics anthem (good for album sales!).

I did a Google and some Chinese sites say she is from the USA! :¬(

Let's hope it's a good one - it's certainly started rather well...

Blimey another two golds in cycling. [LINK=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/cycling/7570228.stm][1][/LINK] [LINK=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/cycling/7570265.stm][2][/LINK]

This means we're 4 golds ahead of Australia now, this must really annoy them after catching up with 3 golds yesterday. Only 10 behind America and 8 of them are by Phelps. The Aussies and Yanks do love their sports.

Woo! Another gold :D we're two ahead of the Aussies. We haven't beaten them since 1988 in Seoul when most of you were born.

The good news is we have more chances to win more medals than the Aussie who claim we're only good at sports that involve sitting down. :)

I knew we were good at rowing, not so much about sailing and definitely not about cycling so I'm really impressed.

It's quite strategic, all the cycling. Seeing them try to get the best position before they start and 'nobble' each other.

Victoria Pendleton is going for gold in the women's cycling sprint this morning!

We've got another silver in sailing but the Aussies got 3 gold and 1 bronze so we're heading back down the table.
