"Resident Evil"

The more I see about this game, the more I want it. The graphics, the bosses (particularly the shark), the atmosphere all seem to add up to a must buy game, but I'm still not sure.

You guys have played it, so what are the good parts? I've read reviews, but a little persuasion about the fun factor, etc would be nice. Is it worth buying?

There are two flamethrowers. One is wroking, one is broken. I think it is open to both characters.

It all depends on how you killed Plant 42. With Chris, if you got the PLant 42 Report first the plant will capture you and Rebecca will have to mix the V-Jolt and save you. Or you can just kill it with bullets and et the report later. This means the flamethrower is there later on to help you with the tiger spider - because you used some ammo earlier. If you used the Rebecca method I don't think the flamethrower is there.

With Jill you can blast it or use V-Jolt. If you use V-Jolt it captures Jill, then Barry comes in and uses a flamethrower on it (thusly the flamethrower won't be there later). If you just blast it without using V-Jolt I don't think Barry comes in, so the flamethrower is there.

Nah, she's just putting on the innocent, damsel in distress, disguise cause she fancies Chris and wants to lure him into bed.

But that flamethrower is broken...

I'd just like to say there is a kinda problem with Resi Evil... That medic woman girl you meet when you play as Chris. She is the woman you play as in Resi 0 yes? In Resi Evil she seems like a complete wuss!!! She seems constantly scared and/or jumpy in cut scenes and you need to save her from a single hunter. Surely if she'd just fought her way through hourdes of undead in Resi 0 she'd be a bit tougher than she acts in Resi Evil...

Ah well... maybe it severely unhinged her for life.

The flame thrower is an ammo saver for the big giant spider boss with Chris

Chris DOES get a flamethrower!!! Well he did when I played the game (on easy mode...) but you only get it for a certain bit... There's one of those switches where you take the flame thrower off it and the door behind you locks. Then you can use the flamethrower in that section, but when you want to leave that area (and there is only that one door out as far as I know) you have to put the flamethrower back so the door unlocks again...

So it kinda sucks. But still, a flamethrower is a flamethrower...

The Magnum will kill anything (except bosses) in one shot on easy. Takes of Zombies heads most of the time. Do you know where it is?
