"The results of the largest survey of gamers this year has revealed that Xbox is the top console of choice this Christmas.
Over 12,000 US gamers were asked, "What console do you plan to buy in the coming year?" and 39 percent answered Xbox! 27 percent answered PlayStation 2, and 17 percent plan to pick up a GameCube.
The study also showed that game demos are the most influence over game purchase decisions. When asked "Which of these items highly influence your game purchase decisions?" nearly 8 out of 10 respondents (78%) ranked game demos the number 1 factor, far ahead of the number 2 response: game reviews (47%). Both television commercials (35%) and magazine ads (31%) trailed furthest behind as drivers."
Not bad eh?
Xbox really could have done with 1 or two more great exclusives, although having said that I feel that Xbox's current games libary is quite strong already and has only been out 6 months. I, like garbe, have been picking up a few launch titles which I missed first time round which have kept me going. Some solid multiformat games(THPS3) have also kept me happy too.
For a person like yourself who isn't interested in these games, thats no substitute.
Publishers holing back titles, the summer drout of games, games not being ready etc have all played their part. For some, it has been disspointing.
Things will change.
One look at Splinter Cell(check out the streamed video at splintercell.com) will cause you to want to hang onto your Xbox. I know it will be ported to PS2 eventually, but so far all screens have been Xbox, and... well just go see for yourself, trust me.
All the Xbox exclusives hold good potential and some are already looking must have. Presonaly, I'm very excited by the up and coming Xbox line up.
Just been reading all the posts that i have'nt read in this thread.....
Garbe, I don't dislike you, You are a respectable member of this forum aswell as many others.
I am getting sick and tired of all these "Anti-Xbox, Go Gamecube!" posts but i tend to just argue with the newbs, which is fun.
Wookster (sorry i like calling you that :D)
I don't beleive Microsoft have screwed up, its the Publishers that are screwing up, they tend not to release games during the summer months...
I am still buying launch games now, and over the next 4 months LOADS of top class looking games are being released, which i am really looking forward to.
Wookster, you should look into buying some magazines, OXM for example, they are an all-round excellent mag.
It's time I got involved in this three way thing.
peespoo (you see what I did there? ;)) has no gud games and the gc is da bomb LOL

Sorry. Erm... "Xbox sux! Boo!"
Feel better?

I'm sorry to have to point the finger at you again, but I think the reason we have such bad arguments is that you often don't seem to understand what I say a lot of the time. Maybe if you re-read posts before you replied you would see that I'm only replying with valid points instead of just slating the X-box, which you seem to think I'm doing all the time.
:-)
> and theres still a few I want to pick up like Burnout
Ick.
I recommend waiting for Burnout 2. I had Burnout on PS2 and loved it - at first. It becomes tedious very quickly.
