"The results of the largest survey of gamers this year has revealed that Xbox is the top console of choice this Christmas.
Over 12,000 US gamers were asked, "What console do you plan to buy in the coming year?" and 39 percent answered Xbox! 27 percent answered PlayStation 2, and 17 percent plan to pick up a GameCube.
The study also showed that game demos are the most influence over game purchase decisions. When asked "Which of these items highly influence your game purchase decisions?" nearly 8 out of 10 respondents (78%) ranked game demos the number 1 factor, far ahead of the number 2 response: game reviews (47%). Both television commercials (35%) and magazine ads (31%) trailed furthest behind as drivers."
Not bad eh?
*Drools over Splinter Cell feature in mag*
> Just read SplinterCell was voted best game at ECTS, as well as E3.
Someone's made a mistake there...
Do you mean Xbox game of E3?
As I remember, that unplayable Doom 3 footage won it (somethings not right about UNPLAYABLE games being "game of the show") with Metroid Prime coming a close second.
The reason people tend to believe the polls giving PS2 top spot is that so many polls have given the same result.
:P Hooray, I want it more.

No problem - a lot of my friends call me that. Gets quite an amusing response when we're out and about. :-)

Oh, I agree - but at the end of the day, it's MS's responsibility - when choosing a launch date for the machine - to ensure that there are sufficient quality titles.
They won't admit it publicly, obviously - but I bet someone, somewhere in the MS buildings, has had a major butt-kicking.
