Taken from www.officialxboxmagazine.co.uk: -

"The results of the largest survey of gamers this year has revealed that Xbox is the top console of choice this Christmas.

Over 12,000 US gamers were asked, "What console do you plan to buy in the coming year?" and 39 percent answered Xbox! 27 percent answered PlayStation 2, and 17 percent plan to pick up a GameCube.

The study also showed that game demos are the most influence over game purchase decisions. When asked "Which of these items highly influence your game purchase decisions?" nearly 8 out of 10 respondents (78%) ranked game demos the number 1 factor, far ahead of the number 2 response: game reviews (47%). Both television commercials (35%) and magazine ads (31%) trailed furthest behind as drivers."

Not bad eh?

I don't know why you keep bringing up surround sound, for a start you can use Pro Logic II with any Gamecube game, which gives full surround sound with a barely (if any) noticeable reduction in quality. And secondly, I've had a really expensive surround sound set up for two months now, at first I thought it was incredible, now I don't even notice it is there.

My system supports all types of surround sound, which means I can have full surround sound with absolutely anything I link it up too (TV, PC, Cube etc) and it doesn't feel incredible anymore, like I said I barely notice it's even there now, although if I played at someone elses house who didn't have it I would notice it isn't there, but it wouldn't take any fun out of the game at all. The only time I really notice it now is when I'm watching DVD films, when it sounds *exactly* the same as in the cinema.

Maybe.

But then again, when your hi-fi has an output of 580 watts, the sound seems to be coming from everywhere at once anyway!

Yes, I know it's my problem - I'm just giving an example of why not everyone will buy the Xbox version simply because of the sound.

Sorry but thats the way it is, I can't help others but I can help myself to get the best version :D

In theory, maybe. But it depends on the individual's setup.

Surround sound means nothing to me, because I don't have a surround system. Sure, I could buy one, but my console is in my bedroom, and due to the layout, it isn't possible for me to go putting speakers up all over the place. Which kinda renders a surround sound system - and game support for it - irrelevant.

My hi-fi has Dolby Pro Logic, and my PC has a surround system because it came with it, but neither are used to their full potential simply because there's no point.

Do you mean Xbox game of E3?

It won "Best E3 Game:Critics award" an award voted for by 40 editors who attended the show.

Also won best game at ECTS(including PC) so I'd say it's a surefire gem.
It will be on other formats eventually but so far its been all Xbox screens and movies, after the Xbox release this november they will do a version for PS2 but if it looks as good as the Xbox fotage, I'll eat my hat -filled with manure. :P

Eventually it will be but that won't be for at least another year :) On top of that reading a NINTENDO REVIEW of Turok Evolution he stated that the Xbox version has "better textures and overall graphics and the use of 5.1 Surround Sound enables a whole new dimension that sadly the GameCube version can not offer, I am just glad I have played all 3 version before I depicted the number 1 version"!

I have ordered a Yamaha Surround Sound system so I will have it and I would rather be in the game than sat on the sofa with mono or stereo speakers, wouldn't you?

That is one thing, someone asked why the Xbox versions are better, there is your answer! EVERY Xbox title utilises the Chip included in the console which enables Dolby 5.1 or DTS sounds to be used during the game, doesn't that put it ahead straight away?
