Me I am a PS2 owner, and for Christmas or earlier i would like to get a new console, either the xbox or the GCN.

Ive done research on the Xbox, it sounds good, but can you GCN fans persuade me into getting a Nitendo Gamecube? What has it got that is better than the Xbox? Why is it worth getting? Will my gaming needs be satisifed with this console?

One thing I like about this is that Freeloader allows you to play games without chiiping the console, which is good for cheap imports.

Please Help!!

Really you should buy the console because of the games and not becuase of the specs.

Thats all i can say, the main thing behind Gc is nintendo and rare, you wont find their games any where else, well maybe rare if somin happens to them.

As for Xbox theres only a few games on the machine i like that arnt on gc or ps2.

I think the perfect combo is ps2 and GC.

Special Reserve have got some fantastic deals on at the moment:

I suggest you choose the Fire Pack and get Super Smash Bros. Melee and Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2.

Yeah, the 'Cube is so cheap because you only pay for what you want. If you want a DVD player, there's the Panasonic GameQube for about £25.00 or so more. If you want internet access, you can buy a £20.00 modem that simply slots into the port under you GameCube, and you can play away! And it's still cheaper than the X-Box. Nintendo have always been about customer care and satisfaction, rather than cashing in.

£70 you'd be saving buying a GameCube I think thats worth it, with £70 you could buy a game with a few extra pads, or maybe 2, 3 games off ebay. I think I might just the the Cube instad of the Xbox, I dont need a dvd player already got one, so for total gaming a cube is much better.

By the way, in the racing games list, I forgot Donkey Kong Racing GC, a Mario Kart GC type game.

You've got to think though, what are the best exclusives? Nowadays, most third party developers go multi-format, so most X-Box games will come to GameCube and vice versa. As the two consoles are equal in specs, and this is proven at the link below:

http://cube.totalgames.net/features/featuresfull2.epml? features2.REF=15&newsFormat.REF=9&featureType.REF=1
[minus spaces]

And as they both have promising online futures:

So really, it should come down to price, and exclusive games. Well, on price, the Nintendo GameCube wins hands down, with the console £70.00 than Microsoft’s X-Box. The controllers are about the same, but GameCube games are considerably cheaper, and they usually retail at around £34.99, whereas X-Box games retail at around £44.99.

Onto exclusive games. This is a matter of opinion, but I think that Nintendo and Rare (the two greatest developers of all time) have much more to offer than Microsoft and they’re second party developers. Plus, add other exclusives such as Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Sonic and much more, and Nintendo have a VERY strong line up.

Don't know about that but I found that Light guns on a console where pap compared to an arcade version.

Yes, rumours of games like Time Crisis are about and a light gun being produced. Nothing's confirmed, but it's very very likely.

In fact, it has been proven that the 8cm disc can hold just as much as a DVD, so anything you've heard are myths. Also, because they're smaller, they can't be pirated and are about £10.00 cheaper.
