"The OFFICIAL Super Smash Bros. Melee Tips Post"

Hi. Looking around I've noticed a lot of posts under the names of things such as 'SSBM - Help!', and 'Super Smash Bros. Melee Tips?' and things along those lines. Well, anyway, they seem to be ten a penny at the moment, so I've taken the liberty of making this the help thread. Thank-you, thank-you, hold your applause...

Anyway, I'll start us off. I can't get further than 215 meters in the home run contest. I've been using Ganondorf. Anyone got any tips or strategies? Who's the best character to use?

The method I used was to go for the Poké balls themselves rather than Jigglypuff. Having managed to complete the event after about a dozen goes, I actually LOST to Pichu! DAMN THOSE WALKING BOMBS! Naturally, I can't complete the damn thing now which could not be MORE frustrating!!! >:(

Best way to do 'Legendery Pokemon' is to concentrate on Jigglypuff, get rid of him/her/it and then you can use the poke ball's yourself against the wire frame fighters!

I just witnessed quite possibly, the funniest thing ever - dash+a with Luigi. Watching the green idiot blindly stumbling across the stage, flailing his arms in desperation is truly a sight to behold!
Other worthy observations - for me, Ganondorf is clearly the best fighter and Mewtwo is the worst.

I've found a good tip for the Event Match 'Legendary Pokemon':

Choose Young Link. When the battle starts, run to the left, and stand by the edge. Keep doing sword spin attacks using UP + B (don't jump though). Whilst following through, Link will continuously fall off the edge, and then pull himself back up. Just keep repeating this, and while the wire frame enemies try to get you, they'll fall off the edge.

This is a round up of how to unlock the secret stages.

Brinstar depths: play 50 versus matches

Fourside: play 100 versus matches

Big blue: play 150 versus matches

Poke floats: play 200 versus matches

Mushroom kingdom 2: win the Birdo trophy

Flat zone: finish classic mode with Mr. game & watch

Battlefield: Beat all star mode with any character
(to get the all star mode, unlock every character)

Final destination: finish all 51 event matches

Dream land: finish the target mode with every character

Yoshi's island: get a home run of over 400metres with one character

Kongo jungle: survive the 15 minute melee

I finally got the sound test! YAY! To get it, you have to get all the stages, complete all 51 events, and complete classic mode with everyone (including special characters) That's what I had when I got it, so you may/may not need to do all of the criteria there.

To get different music in the menu (it's random if it plays or not) obtain the sound test. When you get it, go to the sound test and listen to menu 2. This is the music that will soemtimes play. Also, listen to some music in the sound test (ie. brinstar, venom etc) and then go to the trophy gallery, it will be playing there!
