My point being didn't Nintendo say "they don't need fancy capabilities like dvd" funny that isn't it because without my PS2 I would not have been able to play it.
Saying a console is rubbish because it doesn't plays DVDs is stupid. Saying a console is good because they've made it "purely for gameplay" is equally as stupid.
Not only are the console aimed at different markets, but to say that the addition of a DVD player has ANY effect on the quality of games on the console is absurd. It makes no difference.
Oh, and yes, you're PS2 WILL play the demo disc on the cube magazine. That demo disc isn't actually a Gamecube game disc- it's a small DVD. Hence it was made for people to look at on their DVD player/computer before the cube was launched as a promotional exercise.

Since when have games consoles needed to play films?
The DVD format other than having more space on the disks adds absoloutly nothing to the actual way the games play. I think this is where people are getting confused, it's GAMES console as in it's sole purpose is to play games, Nintendo seem to be the only company who realise this.

I'm sorry, but that's just nonsense. All of my stuff is Sony - TV, VCR, DVD, Hi-Fi, Camcorder and DSC. It's all very high-quality stuff, and easily the best you can get for the price.
The oldest piece of that hardware is the Hi-Fi, which is now six years old, and still functions as well as when it was new. Even the original batteries in the remote are still going strong.
