Okay, sorry for the lenghty delay but it's been a madhouse round here for the last... blimey, that's almost a month. No matter, because we've picked a winner. A lot of you simply suggested we sell stuff cheaper, or 'knock off a tenner to make it look good' which isn't really very productive - what we were looking for was a mixture of suggestions for new products, and how best to promote the ones we have. And the person who did that the best was...
DeltaJava.
Well done matey, you win a Game or DVD of your choice up to the value of £50. He suggested we take a look at our prices of stuff like Encarta and Paintshop Pro, compared to other retailers, and tipped us off about some new products to stock like USB2.0 and more TV cards. Basically, his collection of suggestions was the most complete, and for that, he is rewarded. If you scroll back through the topic, his posts are highlighted in yellow.
Anyway, thanks to the rest of you for all of your posts, we'll take the into consideration. Even the ones about boobs and stuff. You kids. Complaints to the usual address, I'll ignore them like I always do.

Here's a really good chance to sl*g off SR.
Take a look at our range of PC parts and peripherals. i.e. anything which works in, with or connects to a PC.
What's missing from the range?
Where are we out of date or over-priced?
Which descriptions fail to do justice to the products?
For example you could tell us that our A03 drives are out of date and over priced and that we should be selling the A04. (posted by Bonzo Banana did yesterday)
You do NOT need to post all of your suggestion in one post. ALL of your posts will be added together for the selection process.
Closes Thursday August 1st.
Mr Snuuuuggly will extract the thread and pass it to our PC Buyers who will say 'Oh my God, what clever customers we have'. They (the un-named and un-shamed) will determine the winner.
Winner gets a full GAD prize. Only one winner folks.
(er-thanks in advance guys. And none of those "getting us to do their work" jibes PLEASE!)
Places like Dabs and Ebuyer sell ALL current processors, often under half the price that you lot are charging!
The only reason customers may buy the parts from you rather than these companies is that they only take online orders only, which is a problem for people who don't like giving their card details over the net. However, with general attitude to internet shopping improving all the time, well, I can only see things getting worse for you in this department.
Keep up the good work with the console business though. :)
Oh, here's another idea - case modding. Seeing as Special Reserve seems to be more videogames-orientated than for business purposes, why not develope a range of case mods exclusive to UK. Case modding is extremely popular amongst hardcore PC gamers and could proove an un-tapped area of profit-making for SR. Such mods include case windows, fans, vinyl designs, in-case lighting (of which there are several kinds) as well as digital displays (which monitor various things) that sit in a drive bay. Keep it unique, keep it cheap, and you could be onto a winner!
> In general the maxx pc's are quite expensive compared to pcs that some
> of your rivals offer, one leading retailer often sells a particular
> manufacturers top spec machines for £799.99
To further this, the particular retailer (Im not going to say 'Where In The World' they are) now has for £799.99 a P4 2.2Ghz Pc with 512 MB DDR Ram, an 80GB harddisc, seperate DVD and cd rewriter drives(something that is sadly missing on the maxx pc's), a 64 mb gefoce 4 graphics card, 17" monitor, 56k modem and speakers, and is bundled with XP and Works 6.0.
Even when comparing this with your top spec machine, you come out on the losing end, and you charge a few hundred pounds more. Needless to say I know which machine I'd choose. The retailer doesn't build the machines themselves, they buy them from another manufacturer, why doesnt SR do this if its cheaper?

It might be an idea to make another link for such products as plenty of people know they want one, but don't know whether it will work or what specifications they need or the product is. It's just an idea, but if written for a less computer literate audience you might get some more fans.
Also make sure you include as much information on products, (games as well - I know this isn't what you are asking but maybe include text off the back cover and review scores on the product). Also pics would be good.
Just ideas.
The £90.99 Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick does contain a number of features that other sticks don't in particular an optical camera for increased accuracy.
It's not always about getting the cheapest product......
