No matter how good of a invester you are, any shares you have at the moment you have probably lost money. I have anyways :(
I could have sold my HBOS shares for £8.50 a few months ago but now they are about £5.50 :(
Could be a really good time to invest at the moment...Anybody got any good tips?

NB : I'm sure catie is aware of how the dividend process works. I think you need to go and re read her post. She has asked why a company would distribute "ALL" of it's profits as a dividend to shareholders.
This is a company giving away all of it's money that it's made, which in my mind is a very bad practise because if for any reason it fails to make a profit or starts to struggle for a couple of months in a row, it will not have the resources to pay bills, ie WAGES and will subsequently collapse.

Aye, although Vodafone was in the top 5 buys of the day (most bought by IMIweb users) today.

When you become a share holder you become a part owner of the company. If it makes a profit then you get some of that profit.
Any money the company has is either profits or money from selling parts of the business. Either way as part owner you are entitled to part of that money.

Thanks. I will investigate further.

Then I would suggest that the company you work for knows that it is going to lose it's tribunal case, is going to be slapped with a massive massive fine and is therefore offloading all it's money so that it can't pay out.
You could find yourself out of a job as I'm sure that is illegal and the receivers could be brought in to pay the debt. :(
If I was you, I'd be asking questions within your company, ie people who are a bit higher up than you about what is going on.
Sounds very worrying.
