I got one.
Been hammering Halo with a mate since I got it on Tuesday.
Fantastic game, if only for one feature:
Co-Op Multiplayer.
2 people, split-screen playing the full game. Not deathmatch or any silly extra like that, but 2 of you going through the game together.
I haven't seen that for a loooong time and it makes the world of difference. A fantastic idea that more games should use.
Rallisport Challenge.
Best rally game I've played on any console.
Jet Set Radio Future (or something)
Odd but good. Like Tonty Hawks without the stupid falling off every 12 seconds or big-shorted rock monkeys on the soundtrack.
So why do I like my Xbox?
Because it's quieter than my PS2, loads faster, looks better and I prefer the controllers.
The analogue sticks are in the ideal position, left one slightly higher than the right, as it should be.
Buttons are placed exactly where you need them and it's a top design.
Microsoft have the money to stay the distance.
Sony has had exclusive market to the Gen X gamers, nothing to balance it off, except now there is the Xbox.
And I think that's only a good thing.
A lot of titles are going to be multi-format, which negates the "I must get PS2 for this game!" because you can get or will be able to get, the major Sony titles on the Xbox.
I like the idea that a game can be played on either system, creates a level playing field where the machines compete on equal footing.
I'm not knocking Sony,I'm a devout fan of the PS2 and PSX, but I prefer the Xbox for no real reason other than I love my PC and now I get similar games on a console I can play downstairs having a smoke and pizza with mates around me,instead of hunched over a monitor.
Take Buscemi, put a rubbish wig on him, stick shades on his face and jam biscuits up his nose to get that nasal "Shyiiiiiiiiiiiine" voice and voila!
Oastevebuscemis
"PS2 - Oasis."
That's one big jump. The PS2 was Steve Busemi the other day.

GAH! you should have bought an N64 with Perfect Dark then :p
also on the Co-op there was an Anti-Co-op where you mate played ALL the bad guys and tried to stop you completing the missions, e.g. pushing chairs infront of doors and sending guards after you...great fun.
Damn right.
I sit at a desk all day looking at a computer, I damn well don't want to have to do that all evening as well if I want to play games.
Much more comfortable lounging on the sofa blowing people up in Halo...
I get confused.
Nintendo have never made any bones about their appeal and their target market.
Nice non-threatening games you can play with your kids or just colourful, escapist entertainment for anyone.
They don't try to be hip and "cool", try to surf the zeitgeist, they consistently bring out nice games.
I know I give them stick for being Nintardo, but that's just being childish myself, and it makes me laugh.
If consoles were bands:
PS2 - Oasis. Using cred to disguise a lack of newness
Gamecube - The Corrs. Nice and the whole family can listen
Xbox - The Hives. New and not for everyone.
Not taking away from any of the consoles, because they all fill their designated roles within the marketplace.
Nintendo aren't in competition for the same £ as Sony and Microsoft.
PC style games have never really been my thing - though part of this does come from the not wanting to spend long hours sitting by a tiny monitor.
Before some one comes in an says Nintendo isn't for kids, Goatboy is pretty much right when he says it's a family console. Yes there are games like Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil, but to be honest those of us that buy a Gamecube are doing it for Mario and Zelda and the like, if we really wanted 'more mature' games we would have bought an Xbox or a PS2.
The bread and butter titles on the Gamecube from Nintendo will feature Mario jumping, Wario laughing, and the like. But that's what I want.
And I've still to play an Xbox game that I've liked, but it they stick snowboarding games and racers in their pods, they obviously aren't trying to appeal to me.

How do you determine the sexuality of a computer game?
--
By how twee it looks, and the fact that it's purple. Who ever heard of a purple console? And it's really small.
Also, have you seen Pikmin? Case closed.
I still think the PS2 rules, because you don't have to update it to play DVDs, but all 3 look pretty classy to me.
First we'll control SR, then blow this pop stand, and go for the Whitehouse! Muah!
