Last week the XBox overtook the Cube in sales in GB. Now there are (only) 3000 more XBoxes around than Cubes. This is due to the excellent offer the XBox has (2 games for free).

Nintendo have to cut prices and/0r add a free killer game, like they did with the Mario/Goldeneye N64s.

They have to do it before Christmas, or else they'll take a pounding.

The amounts of money lost on every X-box is absolutely nothing, even when they all mount up, its just a bit of bill gates pocket money. These days microsoft rule the computer world with there unfair sales (Windows installed on all new computers these days is industry standard), not giving rival OS's companys a chance.

For every 3 million they lose from x-box sales, they will make 5 million from windows and microsoft games sales.

I would gladly have an xbox, but the GC comes before anything.
Still, microsoft are stupid, they lose money from hardware sales and make it from software, so is giving away two free games really a god idea?

Agreed - it's a growth industry. People can buy two consoles now for the money it cost to buy one five years ago.

Yes, but the point is that both consoles are great, and there are games only on Xbox that it's worth buying the console for. It's a great piece of kit, and any gamer will see that. I just hope all three consoles last... which they will.

Actually thats not true. It just depends on your circumstances.

There isn't a single game on the X-box I want to buy that I can't get on my PC. Hence, an X-box is a worthless purchase.

Well, in all honesty it is the Japanese market that determines a console's success - and the Xbox hasn't cracked Japan yet. This is not a disasterous thing mind. After all, MS have expected to lose money on their box, and, as a result, will make sure that by the time the Xbox2 launches in a few years it will have a large enough market share to rouse interest from Japan... hopefully.
