I have now read the documentation on the disk that came with the router, it tells me how to telnet in to it, I tried it, very easy even for me! It opens up a DOS prompt page and a menu with numbers etc (Kinda like FDISK in the olden days!) and I looked through all the various menu options (not changing anything for fear of Eccles or Aaron shoting at me)but still no sign of "sync rate" the old ETEC had it!!!! I searched the acrobat reader version of the manual using supplied search facility, no such word in the book! even tried the webs ite still no luck. Perhaps Eccles knows where its hiding? :)

IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5657 kbps
Your connection speed (or sync) is the normal maximum for an interleaved line 7616. So you can't improve this.
You have the correct IP Profile (the speed profile BT give you) for that connection.
See table here for available profiles/sync speed: www.hmmm.ip3.co.uk/adslmax
The actual throughput (5657) was a little low for your profile, but not massively so. Try running the test at different times of the day to see if it gets closer to you profile. It will always be less due to technical 'overheads'.
I've read that there is some sort of mechanism in place where EntaNet have to update their system when BT change your profile which has sometimes caused a problem. But when this happens people often see very large differences between their IP Profile and the throughput figure.
So to me it all looks good.
I would just keep an eye on the BT speedtester results over the next few days to see if your IP Profile stays the same - which is the highest it can go while you are interleaved.
Also read up on your router so you can use the telnet facilities to get more details information.
Hope I've been of some help.
Hmmm...
Yeah I got those results from BT I am sure you said once that its a bit flaky at times? I think today is one of those day lol, just tried again and got a result like previous ones - that last one was really weird - latest result (looks better)

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.

Here's the results for my line, can you find these details and paste them here?
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 4160 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3121 kbpsFrom these you can see my current IP Profile (3500)
My connection speed / sync (4160)
And the actual results of the download test (3121)
So for my current connection I can see I'm on the correct IP Profile and getting normal test results.
This will be day 4 since the new router was up and running, no still not found the sync rate bit in the stats, am sure they are not there, all need to put the disk in and see if that has a manual, there was no paper manual arrived with the router.
Hot off the speedtest at BT
The speed test has completed on test server test.speedtester.bt.com for user *********** and you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of
2528 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.
Your IP address is ************* your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 and is running on Windows XP.
BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:
For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps.
For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.
You may now disconnect from the speed test account (click 'disconnect' in your internet connection window) and if you wish to regain normal access to the internet please re-connect to your ISP using your usual username and password.
Please note that test results may vary according to varying traffic in the network. If you continue to experience slower throughput when logged in to your ISP, this may be due to a slow internet site or high traffic levels beyond the BT Wholesale Network. Please report this situation to your ISP's helpdesk.

Hi Digi,
What speeds are the speedtest sites showing for you today (Official BT or otherwise)?
When was your last 'drop of connection'? Remember it can take up to 5 days for your IP profile to recover.
Have you found your connection speed (sync) in your router stats yet?
As I mentioned before:
"I would take the speed the 'BT availability checker' gives you with a massive pinch of salt! - that's not the speed of your line it's just an estimate based on what it's been seeing lately. So as you have been losing connection it's had a re-think."

Kev
I take it you haven't lost sync with this new router?
If you haven't then your IP Profile will soon completely recover.
I'm not familiar with your router so can't help with finding the interleaving info.
You have command line/telnet access with that router so I'm sure Eccles will show you how to display interleaving/fastpath.
