Yeah I spoke with Aaron arlier and we have a plan of action in place thsi includes removing interleaving to see if the line remains in sync, if it does then the new router was the shot, if its dosent then we leave the interleaving on in future.
I looked at the disk that comes out with the ZyXEL it explained about the telnet option that St Hmmm mentioned, its easy enogh to do (telnet) but you get just the same menus from what I can see, but rather than having a nice GUI its just in plain DOS

I can see a request for interleaving to be turned off so I will check with Aaron.
You've found the sync stats now. I'm afraid I can't remember if that router shows the path mode (interleaved or fast-path) via the GUI and Zyxel don't seem to have a document detailing all the commands you can perform via the command line.
Our stats show your IP profile at 6500 and this was set at 2:21am on 12/11/2007 when you had a sync rate of 7392kbps and interleaving is showing as Opt-In (meaning the customer asked to have it turned on). However this is just the last set of statistics that BT's systems chose to send us so they may not be totally accurate. We can ask for interleaving to be disabled if you wish but BT may enable it again if you report a fault again as part of the fix process.
Re Firmware, that I did check on the website and did know where to find that in the router and I am to date with the firmware.
aaron called this afternoon, as BT only keep a job open for about 5 days, and were needing to know if I wanted an engineer to call (£188 fee poss) or close the job time being. We have decided to close the job and try turning off interleaving agin to see if this router van keep the line open (in Sync I know where to find it) and Aaron and I will monitor the situation over the next week or so.
Yer all stars
Merry xmas one and all.

You've now found all the important bits:
'Downstream Speed' is your line speed or 'sync'.
So keep your eye on this. You should nearly always sync around 7616 (or 8128 if you request interleaving to be switch off).
If you suspect your connection is running slowly - then first check your sync (Downstream Speed) to make sure you haven't had what's called a low sync event. This might be caused due to BT carrying out work or a problem somewhere down the line.
If you are not sync'd around 7616 then restart your router - if it's a temporary problem you should see your normal sync speed in your router.
Now if BT have reduced your IP Profile to match your lower sync you will still be going slower than normal - DON'T PANIC (yet).
After your IP Profile has recovered (often around 3 days - but can be anywhere between an hour or so to 5 days!) you'll see your normal speeds return.
Your downstream SNR (noise margin) looks fine - it should stay above 6db (or so) in the evening when 'noise' increases for everyone - so it shouldn't drop the connection.
Your downstream attenuation (length/quality of line) is very good and should stay the same (give or take 1db) unless something has physically changed.
So by now you should be getting to know you line - I know I am :¬)
This should help you in the future if things should go pear shaped again.
Finally - when you are feeling brave, it's worth checking the firmware in your router is current. As with most IT kit, even though it's brand new there are often updates available to optimise things. As Freeola set your router up for you they may have already done this?
Happy surfing!

Can you see a figure based on 7616? (we know that's you current line sync from your earlier BT test).
Might be displayed as 76160000 etc.
Could be called 'line rate', 'data rate' 'connection speed' 'bandwidth - up/down' you get the idea...
noise margin downstream: 14 db (SNR?)
output power upstream: 19 db
attenuation downstream: 12 db
noise margin upstream: 27 db SNR?
output power downstream: 12 db
attenuationupstream: 7 db
SYNC no where to be seen in the black version

So are you now able to find from your router:
Sync / Attenuation / SNR ???
(it's really the downstream figures that are of most interest)
Kevin
This depends if it the white or black version
you will find either under maintenance or packet stats.
