Just look at the facts...

It's is 3rd place in terms of units sold.

Jack & Daxter, and now Rachet & Clank illustrates that Sony ps2 is just as good at cartoon platform exploration as the Ninty Cube. Infact I have seen a few reports that put the Sony offering ahead of Nintendo.

The lack of a DVD movie player is a mistake for Ninty. The cube might be a bit cheaper, but most people will pay that bit extra to get a console that also plays dvd's. Ahh, some you already have a standalone dvd player in the house. True, but many games consoles are not connected to the main tv - they are used in a bedroom or ther room. PS2 and XBox provides these people with a handy 2nd dvd player in a different location. Both XBox and PS2 also use DVD for games which means the games can be much bigger compared with games on the GC.

Price fixing. Even though this only remarks on the last gen consoles, fact is it made it into the main news. This is not good, and is worse for Ninty since they have always pushed the idea that they are more fair, and are not like Sony or anyone else.

Ninty got the price wrong at launch. Nintendo have made a mistake in introducing the Cube at such a low price. Now that there have been price cuts for PS2 and XBox, people are looking to Ninty for a similar cut. But it wont happen until next year. With it's low price, Ninty need to shift lots of Cubes - which it is failing to do.

Uncertain future. While details for PS3 and XBox2 are not firm - and will change again before launch, at least we know that there will be a PS3 and XBox2. Ninty are much more uncertain. One day they say that this GameCube will be the last Ninty console. The next day they claim to be working on GameCube2, but then say that will be the last one. The only thing we can say for certain is that, whatever the market format is at that time, Ninty won't use it.

Err...Dont know about you but buying out rival companies to set up a total monopoly is VERY naughty.

Just to put this topic to rest of course all companys fix thier prices but some companies such as gamecube fix the price criminally high. It doesn't matter how much you got games etc for others are less fortunate so your experiences don't make it better just because you didn't encounter it.

Parr i talk to you on MSN a lot and I'm surprised at the list you made down below. You say how bad it is that you have to buy memory cards for he PS2 then you say that it isn't bad at all to buy them for gamecube and with the X-Box you state the hard drive is useless when that means you don't have to buy a memory card at all! Strting costs for the PS2 if you want to use it to its full mens you must buy a memory card and DVD remote. With the gamecube you don't even get the DVD player so no remote which save you money but like the PS2 you constantly have to buy memory cards unless your willing to delete game data. The X-Box has only the DVD player remote as a starting cost and you don't have to keep buying a new remote etc so it is superb value for money. Finally I will address the point you made about colour...My god does it really matter? That is the most stupid thing ever. Honestly would you turn down a great car for a great price that you really like because the colour isn't entirely to YOUR satisfaction?

Point is that this kind of game as been the big hitter (for some anyway) for Ninty. It was seen as an advantage. Some thing they were better at than Sony, even if Sony sold more PS2's or games. This is no longer the case. Nintendo no longer have this so called advantage.

For everyone bod that says this, you will find 3 that that want a console with DVD. Just look at the popularity of the DVD format.

Thats the old way of thinking. Expect even more multipurpose consoles in the future. Look at tv, with digital you get more channels, interactive features, digital text which can provide photo realistic graphics, email, SMS text, and even basic games.

With DVD, there is much more space at hand, so little need to split the game. The GC disc holds much less than DVD, so Ninty will have to split the games over 2 or more discs sooner.

MS didnt expect to shift so few units, so they had to offer customers another reason to buy the brick, hence reduce the price again and again.
Sony have shifted so many units, that they have to make so many units. They can buy buy/make hardware in larger amounts which is cheaper. As time goes by, tech gets cheaper, so the cost to the customer comes down.

Lets just hope they dont do the same as what they did with the N64 - overprice the software. Hold on, many people on here say that GC games are the cheapest out there, so where are they making the money?

All the companies can be accused of price fixing. After all, aren't most games retailed at £39.99, some at £44.99 for all the consoles now?

Why not £38.99 as an rrp? Why not £42.99 for some games?

The prices are fixed on all consoles.

Sure, Nintendo games were over-priced, but I never paid anything above £40 for a Nintendo game, most of mine I got for under £30!

It's funny who people can follow things sp blindly even when the truth is in front of them. NINTENDO ripped off millions of people no matter what you wish to believe no other companies are that stupid. Nintendo had to know the truth would come out eventually
