It's is 3rd place in terms of units sold.
Jack & Daxter, and now Rachet & Clank illustrates that Sony ps2 is just as good at cartoon platform exploration as the Ninty Cube. Infact I have seen a few reports that put the Sony offering ahead of Nintendo.
The lack of a DVD movie player is a mistake for Ninty. The cube might be a bit cheaper, but most people will pay that bit extra to get a console that also plays dvd's. Ahh, some you already have a standalone dvd player in the house. True, but many games consoles are not connected to the main tv - they are used in a bedroom or ther room. PS2 and XBox provides these people with a handy 2nd dvd player in a different location. Both XBox and PS2 also use DVD for games which means the games can be much bigger compared with games on the GC.
Price fixing. Even though this only remarks on the last gen consoles, fact is it made it into the main news. This is not good, and is worse for Ninty since they have always pushed the idea that they are more fair, and are not like Sony or anyone else.
Ninty got the price wrong at launch. Nintendo have made a mistake in introducing the Cube at such a low price. Now that there have been price cuts for PS2 and XBox, people are looking to Ninty for a similar cut. But it wont happen until next year. With it's low price, Ninty need to shift lots of Cubes - which it is failing to do.
Uncertain future. While details for PS3 and XBox2 are not firm - and will change again before launch, at least we know that there will be a PS3 and XBox2. Ninty are much more uncertain. One day they say that this GameCube will be the last Ninty console. The next day they claim to be working on GameCube2, but then say that will be the last one. The only thing we can say for certain is that, whatever the market format is at that time, Ninty won't use it.
My local games shop of EXPERTS sell more GC's than X-Box's because they let you demo all three consoles before buying.
Do you want me to state whats wrong with the PS2 and X-Box? Well here goes:
PS2
Only 2 controller ports (ok you can splash out on £20 worth to get an adapter)
Crappy DVD Player
A Huge selection of CRAP games (very few good ones)
Tiny appeal to the under 12's
£30 for a 8Mb memory Card (Speaks for itself)
Still the highest priced console
A highly unoriginal name
Looks horible
Only comes in one colour (means you can't get a different one to you mates and look alittle more unique)
If you stand it up one half of the CD tray motor will burn out quicker and it will not open very well (although this doe take time)
You cannot get your disc out when the power is off
X-Box:
Too big
Pointless Hard Drive
Does not appeale to the under 12's
Controller too big for those with small hands
Was too expensive and now the price drops have made it look like it isn't worth buying (I mean why buy something now when it tends to go down in price every 3 months)
Poor DVD Player that requires you to spend money on an add on
Does that make you feel any better? Oh wait now I must write about the Gamecube!
Gamecube:
No DVD Player (That is why they call it a GAMES CONSOLE)
Small Discs (People might lose them) PAH!
Have to buy Memory Cards (Big Wow £15 for an 8Mb official one)
i hope that will shut you up!
The Japanese and American markets, however, report great sales of GameCube and Game Boy Advance, and despite the large fine Nintendo have recieved, they can easily recover.
You just seem to hold a grudge against Nintendo and I urge you to re-consider before you make a fool out of yourself over a company whose games you probably wont be buying anyway.

Oh please, what corporation hasnt come under the same accusations?
Let thee who be without sin cast the first stone.
> Correct me if im wrong, but arent SKY and BSKYB the same company?
SKY were many times the size of BSB. SKY effectivly took over BSB, but part of the deal was that the names would be joined up. BSB pride more than anything else.

Open goal or what.
Nintendo's money is falling away - fact. The amount they planned to make this year turns out to be less. They have sold less GameCube's than expected - fact. Share value's are getting smaller - fact.
As for the 2nd point. Most of this profit was made before GC (after all, as everyone says - it hasnt been with us that long), which means the N64 days. O dear, wasnt that when ninty (small n on purpose), were ripping people of. Price fixing, overcharging - and thats just what we know about.

OI! Muppet!
:P
Camparing it to N64 unit sales. Well that wouldn't be hard to beat.
So, next lets rubbish the PS2 games. This is what happens when your console is certain to go the way of the Dreamcast, and you have to justify another Mario return. Anyway, with so many PS2 games, there will be some that are below par. Just like with films and music, some are rubbish - but does that mean you rubbish all of them for the sake of it. You only do it to PS2 as you have run out of proper reasons to justify your Gamecube purchase over PS2. The plus side of having so many games, is that there are plenty of different choices. There's some thing for everyone.
Here's the history fact file.
First gen technology wins the race.
VHS was first to dominate the market. Beta came along soon after and was "slightly" better, but it was to late. Not enough to make people stop buying VHS and switch to the other format.
SKY vs BSB. Sky was first to the UK market, while BSB provided "slightly" better quality a year later. BSB came with a smaller dish or squarial, both options smaller than the old 60cm SKY dish. But it was all over. People didnt care much about the dish size anyway, and most couldnt see the so called better quality of BSB. Add to that, SKY had already got a lot of systems into the market before BSB was launched. BSB was doomed from the start.
How can you compare Nintendo to Sega like that?
Nintendo are the most profitable videogames company worldwide, they're not going to 'do a Sega' for atleast another decade. That would be a last resort.
