It's is 3rd place in terms of units sold.
Jack & Daxter, and now Rachet & Clank illustrates that Sony ps2 is just as good at cartoon platform exploration as the Ninty Cube. Infact I have seen a few reports that put the Sony offering ahead of Nintendo.
The lack of a DVD movie player is a mistake for Ninty. The cube might be a bit cheaper, but most people will pay that bit extra to get a console that also plays dvd's. Ahh, some you already have a standalone dvd player in the house. True, but many games consoles are not connected to the main tv - they are used in a bedroom or ther room. PS2 and XBox provides these people with a handy 2nd dvd player in a different location. Both XBox and PS2 also use DVD for games which means the games can be much bigger compared with games on the GC.
Price fixing. Even though this only remarks on the last gen consoles, fact is it made it into the main news. This is not good, and is worse for Ninty since they have always pushed the idea that they are more fair, and are not like Sony or anyone else.
Ninty got the price wrong at launch. Nintendo have made a mistake in introducing the Cube at such a low price. Now that there have been price cuts for PS2 and XBox, people are looking to Ninty for a similar cut. But it wont happen until next year. With it's low price, Ninty need to shift lots of Cubes - which it is failing to do.
Uncertain future. While details for PS3 and XBox2 are not firm - and will change again before launch, at least we know that there will be a PS3 and XBox2. Ninty are much more uncertain. One day they say that this GameCube will be the last Ninty console. The next day they claim to be working on GameCube2, but then say that will be the last one. The only thing we can say for certain is that, whatever the market format is at that time, Ninty won't use it.

It's just pointing out their obsession with getting maximum money at all costs...
I won't do it again as it takes to long to find the little sod on the keyboard!
I'll find the site again, I was reading about it...

ok were did you get that statistic? and why did you type "M$" not MS?

And yet the 16MB Nintendo Memory Card is only £24.99. So you have to pay £56 to match the amount of memory on the Playstation 2.
Can't you see you've lost the arguement yet?
M$ own over 90% of the market!
Tehy bought out nearly ever competitor except from a few which managed to get a hold like Linux and Unix...

Ok. Agreed, it was a bit stupid to only have 2 controller ports, however if you spend the money, the option to upgrade *is* there. Also, the PS2 has 2 USB ports which can be used for controllers, such as the G-Con II gun and the force feedback steering wheel.

I thought you said below that DVD players don't matter. Hence, the Gamecube doesn't have one.

And your proof is? I consider the likes of GT3, MGS2, GTA3, GTAVC, Pro Evo, Stuntman, Jak and Daxter e.t.c. to be a very good line up. The reason it has quite a few rubbish games is because it has more games in total, so just by a ratio of good games to bad, it will have more rubbish games than the GC.

Proof? The PS2 has a lot of games for children, my uncle was even considering buying one once for his 4 year old son.

No. It's an 8 MB card, unlike the GC's 4Mb card. There are 8 megabits in a megabyte, so the GC's card is in fact a lot smaller than the PS2's card. A lot less than half the size, for half the price.

You get what you pay for.

Are you trying to tell me 'Gamecube' is original?

Based on opinion.

And that matters because? Going into the choice of colours is a very weak argument. What if I don't like purple or black?

I'm sure that's a lot less damage than what would happen if you tried to turn your GC on it's side. Again, a weak argument.

Well then, turn it on - Genius!

No. I'm sure my TV is a lot bigger, I can easily fit it in my room, under the TV or on my desk. Brilliant! VCR's are bigger.
> Pointless Hard Drive
No! It is FAR from pointless, honestly in all my time on these forums, I don't think I've ever heard a comment as biast, moronic and totally ignorant as that. The hard drive is used for storing games (obviously), it is also used for buffering (meaning the likes of Halo have virtually no loading times during levels) and it can also be used for unique aspects of games, such as Blinx and his time controlling ability. Also, using Xbox Live, you'll be able to download extra tracks, cars, characters, costumes e.t.c onto your Xbox hardrive. In summary: You're an idiot.

> Does not appeale to the under 12's
Depends what you mean by 'appeal'. However, have you any proof that people under 12 don't like the Xbox? I presume you are, in fact, yourself under 12. Hence you don't like the Xbox. Hence you wrote that.

Controller 'S'.

So price drops are a bad thing now? Funny, I always associated a drop in price as a good thing for the consumer. Computers drop heavily in prices, probably more than the Xbox. Does that mean the common PC is going to fail? I think not.

Again, I thought DVD players didn't matter, as it was meant to be a 'games console'. You're a very hypocritical chimp, aren't you?

Go ahead.

Hmm, I think I've mentioned this comment enough.

> Small Discs (People might lose them) PAH!
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I've always thought the argument against small disks wasn't that people lose them (no one's that stupid!) but that they hold very little compared to what is needed by quite a few developers in the next-gen world, and that changing disks could become very annoying now and in the future. But if you think that it's because people lose them, far be it from me to argue with you.
>
> Have to buy Memory Cards (Big Wow £15 for an 8Mb official one)
£15 for an 8megabit (I always thought it was 4mb...) card is actually very expensive when you compare it to Xbox and PS2's 8megabyte cards. But then, with little computer knowledge (by what you've shown) I doubt you'd know that.
>
> i hope that will shut you up!
Quite the opposite.
At the end of the day, the price fixing Nintendo did doesn't bother me. I never paid the artificially high prices, I wasn't stupid enough to. If you were, that's your fault.
Anyway, Nintendo have accepted what's happened and have moved on. Shame you can't.
Ooo! Good. Lets all say thats fair shall we. Monopolising may be sensible, but it is illegal in many respects.
You can't merge with EVERY company in the interests of becomming a monopoly!
Small companies had NO CHOICE!
"Merge or lose," was the option given to them!
