It's is 3rd place in terms of units sold.
Jack & Daxter, and now Rachet & Clank illustrates that Sony ps2 is just as good at cartoon platform exploration as the Ninty Cube. Infact I have seen a few reports that put the Sony offering ahead of Nintendo.
The lack of a DVD movie player is a mistake for Ninty. The cube might be a bit cheaper, but most people will pay that bit extra to get a console that also plays dvd's. Ahh, some you already have a standalone dvd player in the house. True, but many games consoles are not connected to the main tv - they are used in a bedroom or ther room. PS2 and XBox provides these people with a handy 2nd dvd player in a different location. Both XBox and PS2 also use DVD for games which means the games can be much bigger compared with games on the GC.
Price fixing. Even though this only remarks on the last gen consoles, fact is it made it into the main news. This is not good, and is worse for Ninty since they have always pushed the idea that they are more fair, and are not like Sony or anyone else.
Ninty got the price wrong at launch. Nintendo have made a mistake in introducing the Cube at such a low price. Now that there have been price cuts for PS2 and XBox, people are looking to Ninty for a similar cut. But it wont happen until next year. With it's low price, Ninty need to shift lots of Cubes - which it is failing to do.
Uncertain future. While details for PS3 and XBox2 are not firm - and will change again before launch, at least we know that there will be a PS3 and XBox2. Ninty are much more uncertain. One day they say that this GameCube will be the last Ninty console. The next day they claim to be working on GameCube2, but then say that will be the last one. The only thing we can say for certain is that, whatever the market format is at that time, Ninty won't use it.
16MB mem card seems to be big enough for me. Seeing as I have...ooo........950 pages left on it, so.
Although I'm not argiuing with Tom. ;)

Nintendo also has the GBA, and that sells millions as well as the Cube, so I doubt they are 'going down'.
Plus the Cube, with a price drop etc etc etc, could easily catch up the XBox. It has sold more in Europe, but in the last few weeks, the XBox caught up in weekly sales, by a few thousand, not overall!

...25%....

But as soon as they buy out 25% or more of the sector, it'll be a slap on the wrist and a fine that'll make Nintendo's look like pennies.
The wonders of Economics..
On topic, however....who cares???
The PS2 - a smart looking console, with lots of games (many, admittedly, crap, but nonetheless, alot of games), a DVD player of budget standard (meant in the best possible way) and quality accesories and concepts.
The Gamecube - also a smart design, with 4 controller ports, a smaller but in ratio bigger selection of good games, nicely priced everything, and a 'nice person' console.
The Xbox - Slightly big, but not to worry, with an 8GB hard drive and huge online capabilities size doesn't matter. I personally don't like most of the games BUT many people do..
Sales are nothing. The PS3, Homestation or Xbox2 and Nintendo Funbox (:D) will all come and go. Then a further generation.
I hve no doubts on who will fall...all the money in the world couldn't save them.
Point of post :: Who cares?
I have a PS2, which i got cause i had a PS1 and guessed games i loved were more likely to have sequels on PS2. I almost got a Cube as it looked cool and had great games, just like PS2 and i do own a GBA. I havent considered an Xbox due to a strage and scary market hatred but oh well!
Hope this post soothes some people! Chill!
MS are breaking the law with their buying out of EVERY competitor that tries to enter the market!
It's is next on impossible to uninstall IE meaning that you really are stuck with their browser!
They broke the law, face it!
They were scared of competition so they bought out every competitor which allowed them to keep prices high!
It was basically the same price fixing scam as Nintendo but on a MUCH MUCH larger scale!
> MS have bought out all competitors and have made it so that they are
> the only operating system that people can really use!
"really" so I am right there are others to use wrong again phi11ip
> They put in IE and make it virtually impossible to delete so that you

"Virtually" So they let you delete it if you want? Doesn't sound bad to me
> Basically, what they are doing is ILLEGAL!
"Basically" basically although you make it sound like it should be illegal it isn't
> They are creating a monopoly for themselves, at the only reason they

Obviously you want customers and if they can do it legally they should to bad for other companys.
MS have bought out all competitors and have made it so that they are the only operating system that people can really use!
They put in IE and make it virtually impossible to delete so that you can use other products!
Basically, what they are doing is ILLEGAL!
They are creating a monopoly for themselves, at the only reason they want to do this is so that they can keep prices high and have people only buy from them!
Believe it or not, MS are price fixing...

you call me an idiot when you can't even spell it!! Oh and by the way to have the rights forced upon you them they must have the operating system and there are other operating systems you know!

Ok, that's fine. It's not like I have a personal hatred for Nintendo, and if Panasonic (who I know make the nintendo products, so the cards would be basically official) have decided they want to tackle this problem of small memory cards, that's great. I say well done to them!
I only have a problem with the people who seem to think 8mMb and 8MB are the same and use them in arguments without looking up the facts.
