So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.
Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks
Vlad is the best hitter of a low pitch I've seen. He just smoked a knee high pitch out of the park. It looked like a line drive but just kept going.
Just saw the Soriano incident, OUCH. That guys head must be made of fricking stone considering the ball bounced right off it and went right back to the 3rd base dugout and the fact he didn't even get knocked out. Though like someone said on the youtube video, if Vlad was using a metal bat then things could have been a whole lot more serious
Blue Jays losing again in a pitchers duel, tsk tsk looks like we'll have to do it for them later on. Just stay 3 games within Red Sox territory lads
Boston snapped a 6 game losing streak with the win last night.
Silly Blue Jays messing up their first try at getting even closer to the Red Sox, had my first look at the standings for about 2 weeks and couldn't believe the Sox are now 8 games behind us and the Blue Jays only 3 games off them. I'm sure we can do them a little favour in a few weeks :-D
It would be hilarious if Boston finish third after all the talk in pre-season of how the Yankees wouldn't win the AL East again this year, the Sox are too strong blah blah blah
You would think that the Astros would have learnt something from last season. They couldn't score runs, particularly when Clemens was pitching, and it seems like a similar story this season.
Clemens is 6-4 with a 2.50 ERA. Their bullpen has been rubbish but that wouldn't explain the volume of losses for the starting pitchers. When you have Clemens, Oswalt and Pettite on your staff, you'd expect a 500 record at least.
