Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

The Angels are really poor defensively. 2 errors in 3 innings and they were poor errors.

Vlad is the best hitter of a low pitch I've seen. He just smoked a knee high pitch out of the park. It looked like a line drive but just kept going.

I've taken a pitch to the head but i had a helmet on, nowhere near as bad as actually getting a line drive to the head with no helmet yet still hurts like hell

Angels in Detroit tonight. I saw the incident you were talking about. I reckon I'd be out cold after that shot.

Heh every time the Yanks lose lately so do the Sox, least Jays didn't get sweeped.

Just saw the Soriano incident, OUCH. That guys head must be made of fricking stone considering the ball bounced right off it and went right back to the 3rd base dugout and the fact he didn't even get knocked out. Though like someone said on the youtube video, if Vlad was using a metal bat then things could have been a whole lot more serious

I don't think the Blue Jays have been the same team since the whole Hillenbrand affair. I think it's just destabilized them and that might just be the difference between fighting for the wild card/2nd in their division and having a really average season.

Lidle putting in an excellent performance last night when we needed it what with Mo needing a rest for his slight injury.

Blue Jays losing again in a pitchers duel, tsk tsk looks like we'll have to do it for them later on. Just stay 3 games within Red Sox territory lads

I think Tuesday was a casing point. Clemens pitched a shutout over 7 innings and the score was 0-0. No decision for Clemens. They are starting a bit of a run though. It's going to be a close wild card I think.

Boston snapped a 6 game losing streak with the win last night.

Yea the big 3 on the Astros rotation are getting absolutely killed by zero run support, out of their losses you can bet at least 2/3's of them were scores like 2-1, 1-0, 3-2. They don't give up many runs but then they never get any help, thus they should all come to the Yanks next season (although just as long as we get Zito and Gagne i'll be happy)

Silly Blue Jays messing up their first try at getting even closer to the Red Sox, had my first look at the standings for about 2 weeks and couldn't believe the Sox are now 8 games behind us and the Blue Jays only 3 games off them. I'm sure we can do them a little favour in a few weeks :-D

It would be hilarious if Boston finish third after all the talk in pre-season of how the Yankees wouldn't win the AL East again this year, the Sox are too strong blah blah blah

Yeah, it's a double header for the Yankees today.

You would think that the Astros would have learnt something from last season. They couldn't score runs, particularly when Clemens was pitching, and it seems like a similar story this season.

Clemens is 6-4 with a 2.50 ERA. Their bullpen has been rubbish but that wouldn't explain the volume of losses for the starting pitchers. When you have Clemens, Oswalt and Pettite on your staff, you'd expect a 500 record at least.
