So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.
Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Yeah, I read that. Had a look at his stats and he didn't play that many games for the Rangers and played just over 100 games the year before. Does he have injury problems?

If he can get another year like he had this year, Mussina should be a key to that rotation.

Mussina and Yankees reach preliminary 2 year deal. Just the medical and then that's sorted, lovely.

I think Mussina was thinking about retiring. That's what I heard during the season.
Had a look on the website and saw that Soriano got snapped up by the Cubs. An 8 year contract though. That's some deal. The Cubs will still suck though. :)

Probably be tied up within a day or two. Can't think why the Yankees wouldn't re-sign Moose unless they were using that money to sign Zito

Not seen anything saying that, the last story on Mussina was from midweek saying that the two sides were close to finalizing a 2 year deal but he hadn't signed it yet. No other stories about him on the Yankees site since
