Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

From the sounds of it, the Yankees are interested in pitchers. A couple of other names banded about are Owings and Nippert. The emphasis is on young pitchers to bolster the farm system.

Wow if we get that that's an amazing deal, Gonzalez is a top prospect and Ohlendorf isn't a slouch either, not too sure on the other guys though.

Only way that could be any better is if they threw Nippert in as well

The MLB report states that Viscaino, Ohlendorf, Jackson and Gonzalez might head in the Yankees direction if the deal goes through.

Yanks getting busy again, Doug Mientkiewicz will apparently be helping fill the 1st Basemen slot, probably a signing more for his defensive skills than his bat as he's a .270 career guy. He'll probably be rotating that spot around with Phillips and maybe Phelps.

Also D-Backs and Yanks agree tentatively on a trade, just requires Randy to waive his no-trade clause and then get the contracts sorted. Wonder who the D-Backs are offering.

Hmmm well in the reports i've found, no talk of Gonzalez, that's disappointing. Ohlendorf is pretty decent though and really getting anything for Unit is an achievement as well as clearing all that money off the payroll. Frees up the loot for a certain other 40 year old odd pitcher who we know can pitch in NY :-D

I don't understand Morneau getting AL MVP either. I can think of 3 that I wouldn't have minded winning above him.

Can't really complain with the NL or World Series MVPs. The World Series could have gone to anyone as no one really stood out.

Ryan Howard won the NL MVP, Justin Morneau won the AL MVP (which was bull doo doo) and David Eckstein won the World Series MVP

You two aren't gonna believe this. :P

I've become a huge MLB fan. And have had no one to talk about it with... till now!! :D

Anywho. I'm officially a White Sox fan. I have a White Sox jersey with Pierzynski on the back. I can even spell his name.

Detroit are awful glad they lost to the Cardinals.

Who won the overall MVP in the end?

Yup 18 million a year. Alright if you can get it.

If he wanted success he'd have joined the Mets or he'd have waited for the outcome of the Unit saga as i'm sure the Yankees would have gone for him if by some miracle they could get someone to take Johnson's salary off their payroll

It would have to be for the money. 7 year contract for some crazy fee. Take it if you can get it and he doesn't have to go very far from Oakland.

Yup shocked me to, saw it on Gamefaqs the other day and dismissed it as crazy gamefaqs talk as usual. Guess he went there for the money as it certainly isn't for the glory
