Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Do you reckon you'll plan to go to it? I would if things change at this end pretty quickly.

The number change is probably a 'just in case' type thing.

Yay, Yankee Stadium gets the '08 All-Star game, a fitting end for the house that Ruth built.

Also Cano switches from Number 22 to 24. Freeing it up for a certain pitcher maybe?

Cubs have bought a bunch of players but then they're the Cubs and can't overturn the Billy Goat curse.

Can't see any NL teams challenging. There's not really any other team that really stands out and i'm not just saying that as a Yankees fan. The Angels and Lions might be up there though.

Okay, which team, other than the Yankees, do you think has a chance at the World Series? Any team done some impressive deals in your eyes so far?

Heh, a few too many bottles of wine in the past year, spent all his money, so he put it all together and got a contract. :)

Sammy Sosa agrees to deal with the Rangers. I thought he had given up after a poor year in Baltimore.

Well i managed to last until 324th before getting knocked out to a pair of queens with a better kicker. Not bad for a first try, though i did get put on the table with the chip leader for about a minute and he was just going All In everytime pretty much screwing everyone over. Glad i got moved again otherwise that'd have sucked (or made me boost my chip count alot easier)
