Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

The Braves have never striked me as a big spending club. Do you reckon that will change now?

hehe whoops Cleveland, that's given their bullpen a knock.

In other news Braves have been sold by Time Warner to Liberty Corp. Will be interesting to see how that affects the team

Heh, I read yesterday that Foulke, who had moved to the Indians (I think), retired. He had only joined them a few weeks ago.

Baseball is a sport that treasures its history and traditions (like most American sports really) having Bonds sit atop the Home Run records would be a disgrace, having him at number 2 is bad enough.

They ban Pete Rose for betting on a game yet Bonds can shoot up all he likes and get fixed figures. It's bull

I must admit, the debate that Bonds beating the record will create will be fantastic to view on the sidelines. I do think that he won't be the only one to beat Aaron, if he does at all.

It's not a club it's the Chinese Baseball Association although the agreement does work similar to the feeder club system in football. They'll exchange coaches, scouting etc between each other and the Yankees get first pick on any prospects that come out of it and with a population over a billion we should manage to get at least one decent player out of the deal :-D

As far as Bonds breaking the home run record goes, i hope for the love of the sport he doesn't and i hope his numbers are eventually scrubbed from the record books

Bonds has officially signed for another season. Although there will always be questions about steroid use surrounding him, I'd like to see the record broken, just because it'll something special.

Clemens still isn't sure what he's doing yet.

The Yankees have signed a sort of partnership agreement with a Chinese club. I think that's what it is. I assume it is a bit like a feeder club type thing.

Been there lots of time, when i lived in New York my uncle would take me there about once every fortnight.

Great atmosphere, especially the games against Boston, nothing like it i've ever experienced. 57,000 New Yorkers in the same spot at a sporting event = the best atmosphere you'll get anywhere

Have you ever been before? I can't imagine what the atmosphere is like. Anything you can compare it to?

Nah i'll be in China by then and wouldn't be able to afford it. I'll probably go to it before then though before it does get torn down, i've got a week's holiday in June so i might pop over to New York as a birthday treat to myself
