Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Oh lordie, skim reading this thread is like trying to learn double dutch! When are the games shown on TV? Looks like I'll have to take a crash course on the terminology ><

I believe we will be watching the San Diego Padres (sorry for the late reply - not been around much :))

Wooo finally the skid ends thanks to a gem from Igawa and the bullpen actually doing their job (though there were a couple of nervy moments with a couple of men on base in the 7th and 8th)

If he gets run support then Wang should give us a series win as he's going against Tavarez.

I guess the Yankees enjoy slow starts, except A-Rod.

I guess the Yanks are going all 2005 on us so far, Mo sucking, starting pitchers who can't last 5 innings and the Yanks doing their best to start off 9-19 again.

The Yankees have Hughes pitching tonight. He is apparently the Yankees top pitching prospect. It'll be a tough start I think. I don't think the game is available on NASN, I haven't looked yet.

Pavano injured is more a blessing than a hurting to the rotation :-D

The Yankees are now in the situation where the starters are being pulled out early and the bullpen is overworked.

Last night was a prime example. Igawa was pulled short of 5 innings and the bullpen had to finish the match off. Nothing wrong with the offense as A-Rod smashed another 2 homers and they scored 8 runs. They are just giving up more runs.

The Yankees just need the starters to do a better job, get the injured ones back and rest the bullpen a bit.

The commentators on the Tampa Bay/Yankee game last night were saying that Pavano's injury doesn't look good. He's still got pain in his arm.

I don't understand Torre, he hurls Vizcaino out when he sticks a couple of runners on and doesn't give him the chance to get out of it, instead putting Mariano in to pitch 1 and a half innings after having not pitched for 5 days, but he keeps Chase Wright in there after getting shelled and shelled again (those homers weren't just squeaking over the fence, they were heading all the way to Boston harbour)

Forget all the superstar ego's, Torre's the reason why we haven't won a World Series in 7 years

Ouch, a Boston sweep at Fenway for the first time since 1990. To be fair though, the games were close and the Yankees could easily have won 2 out of 3.

It's Boston at Yankee stadium in the next week or so I think.

Rivera isn't usually a slow starter. He has the odd bad game. Maybe his age is starting to show. :)
