So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.
Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks
I believe we will be watching the San Diego Padres (sorry for the late reply - not been around much :))
If he gets run support then Wang should give us a series win as he's going against Tavarez.
Last night was a prime example. Igawa was pulled short of 5 innings and the bullpen had to finish the match off. Nothing wrong with the offense as A-Rod smashed another 2 homers and they scored 8 runs. They are just giving up more runs.
The Yankees just need the starters to do a better job, get the injured ones back and rest the bullpen a bit.
The commentators on the Tampa Bay/Yankee game last night were saying that Pavano's injury doesn't look good. He's still got pain in his arm.
Forget all the superstar ego's, Torre's the reason why we haven't won a World Series in 7 years
It's Boston at Yankee stadium in the next week or so I think.
