October:- 2 games thrown in for free the incredible Jet Set Radio: Future and SEGA GT 2002
November:- 2 games added for a mere £40 onto the price, two of the X-box's best games Halo and Splinter Cell, and thats including JSRF and SEGA GT 2002.
December:- ?
Come on isn't this a bit overboard now?
Basically, people that enjoy Nintendo and Sony will tend to pick holes in Microsoft in any way that they can because they're worried about the company as a competitor. You'll notice its the Nintendo group that tend to jump onto this more because overall, Sony are already ahead and the last thing they want is for Microsoft to leave them well behind too. Afterall, after the Sega situation, it goes to show what can happen if a competitor is left with low sales compared to the others.
I'm not just having a go at Ninties - it counts for everyone with any console. Everyone has their preferance and they don't want to see their favourite go down. Back when the X-Box was first released, there were loads of people whining about how it was overpriced and would no way sell until its price tag came down. Once that happened, suddenly these people came back with crap of how its down to Microsoft being on the brink of an early exit out of the console industry door. Thats what they wanted to happen anyway - but because it hasn't happened, they will clutch at any straws they can.
Of course no doubt I'm seen as some X-Box fanboy and to be honest I don't mind that all too much because as far as I'm concerned, the X-Box is an excellent console so if I'm gonna be labelled as a link to 1 machine, I'd happily go with X-Box.
Overall I'm pretty open minded with consoles - I've bought practically all of the main consoles over the last decade or so. There are 2 reasons I've ended up being linked to the X-Box so much though - 1 is because I think it is a console worth defending, it has excellent games both out and on the way and the console itself has loads of potential and great features, in my opinion anyway. Second reason is because, of all the consoles I've ever owned, I've never found myself having to stick up for a console as much as I have the X-Box.
People on here in particular are so desperate to rip into the X-Box all because of their hatred for Microsoft (and the reason I mentioned). As we all know, Microsoft have a substantial amount in their business wallet - this could lead to Sony taking second place and Nintendo being pushed back even further. So its really a case of certain people making it their crusade to go out and make the X-Box fail by spreading as much negative feedback around as they can.
But overall, what have Microsoft done wrong with the X-Box ? Of course people will mention the price but its no more than what other companies have charged before it and of course now they've really lowered the price. As a console it has the most features and thats including the options in gaming, not just DVD playback.
Games wise, of course it was pretty slow going after launch over the summer, but I didn't see either of the competitors particularly throwing out a number of quality games either.
Now we're in the run up to Christmas and looking at the release schedules from here onwards, I think the X-Box has the strongest range of games on the way. Of course there are people that love GTA or Nintendo's games, but for quantity of quality games, I think the X-Box is now in prime spot. Not just because Rare are signed up and Sega have promised a number of their classic titles on the console from their old formats, but just look at the lineup with the other games on the way.
Yes, some are multiformat titles, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have excellent multiformat titles such as MGS:Substance and Soul Caliber 2 on top of the other games.
And look at Splinter Cell, it might be on its way to GC and PS2 as well, but with X-Box Live you can download extra missions, etc.
I'm not saying the GC and PS2 are crap, but I certainly find it laughable when you get the muppets desperately trying to flame the X-Box at every opportunity when it is very clearly an excellent console. If the rumours are true then Microsoft might well be a lump of evil freshly laid from the devils back passage, but as far as the X-Box goes, they've done an excellent job and deserve to be in the console industry - they're certainly delivering the experiences I want to play in my games.
The point about about Microsoft trying to conquer the industry was about the way they are going about it, not just because they want to do it. After all, none of the companies could honestly claim that they would rather remain second best with integrity. It's just that while other companies work hard to sell games and get exlusives through the traditional way, Microsoft comes along with their deep pockets and just buys every damn thing they can see. They're like a rich fat kid in a sweet shop. Even if Microsoft made terrible losses with the Xbox, it wouldn't matter because the company earns so much money anyway - which begs the question "Why the hell are they doing it?", because they sure as hell don't need the profit, as they have proved.

No you haven't, don't lie.

Most intelligent comment i've heard in this post. Its an excellent deal, and i'm looking forward to receiving my GAD from you (Splinter Cell) as its an excellent game, not forgetting Halo, JSRF and Sega GT.

This is what i've been trying to say for years.

I don't think anyone's complaining about the deals in particular, but the apparent regularity of them. The main point is, yes it's a great deal for people buying now, but what about the thousands who just paid out on the last deal?
I'd be mightily hacked off.

But you'd say that even if there weren't, after all, you don't want to put us off buying this one! ;-)
Some of your arguments revolve around the fact that 'Microsoft are trying to conquer the gaming industry.' No, really? Just like every other company, then.
And there's no more Xbox deals for a while, we know about them before they happen.
Dringo – going overboard? Personally, I think a price war should be encouraged.
MS’s £100 cut last Spring let to Nintendo’s £40 cut – that’s a whole game’s worth of money.
Whitestripes seems to be thinking along my lines – worth getting an Xbox as WELL as the Gamecube if this rate of special offers continue.
Belldandy, sick of anti-MS-Ninty’s seems to want to stoop to their level...
Gamesfreak is raving about Phantom Crash (although I’d personally choose Mech Assault over it, purely for the online options!)
I think Wookiee REALLY hit the nail on the head.
If MS are offering this now, I wonder what they’ll be offering in the near future...
I bet they’ll do some fantastic deals when Xbox live is officially released in March.
I don’t think that the offers will stop improving soon. Although the Xbox is finally outselling the Gamecube, it’s still WAY behind the PS2, and PS2 sales is what MS are REALLY aiming for.
If the keep up special offers like these, they might well pull it off...
Halo
DOA3
Jet Set Radio: Future
Splinter Cell is coming to other consoles in march next year. So those 3 are the games i want... particular JSRF and the other 2 I could easily live without. Rare meanwhile may produce a Conker sequel and as JSR and CBFD for me are 2 modern classics in the gaming world I would really love them...
If i wait for Rare's Kameo game in spring next year I may be picking up an X-box with 2 games for £100, I wouldn't be suprised especially as Nintendo and Sony will probably cut the price again by then.
I'm just pointing out all the deals.

Bah, and there was me thinking you were all grown up now. You've put me off getting an X-box now...
