If you're reading this, and you bought a Gamecube, accept my sympathy. What's this? You're enraged by my insult to your precious purple handbag? Well, ok, I can understand that. After all, even if you did go for the cheaper option, you still did shell out quite a lot on a games console you hope will last several years. But it seems prospects are dim for Nintendo owners when it comes to online gaming - In case you haven't heard already, Nintendo have been the first to admit they have the most conservative and cautious approach to online gaming out of the three consoles. My guess is that if Gamecube ever makes the transition to online play, it won't be until at least 200004. Oops, sorry that was a typo. I meant 2004. Hehehe.

This means that when all your Xbox buddies are LIVE next year, you'll be going as green with envy as their snot-coloured console. Dissapointed? Angry? No, most likely you'll be entering the first phase of acceptance: Denial.....

"I don't believe him", "Nintendo will be online soon enough", "This is Xbox propoganda", etc, etc. But I must object to the last comment. This message is no Xbox-biased snipe at plumber-lovers. It is a charitable piece of advice: SELL YOUR GAMECUBE!

And if anyone is still reading after that last shocking sentence, I'll explain what possesed me to splutter such an outrageous squib of flabble:

1.) If you sell now, you will get more money for your Gamecube than later. The longer you wait, the less you will get
2.) When you sell, go by an Xbox bundle. They're better value than PS2, the Xbox is way more powerful, has a fair selection of games now (obviously not as many as playstation, but still enough) and most importantly,
3.) YOU CAN GO ONLINE IN 2003!

I'd say the chances of you taking my advice seriously are slim. But you can't say I haven't tried - If you hang onto your cube, you'll only regret it later when online gaming arrives in the UK.

Online gaming cost money. anything that cost money is worth consideration. a lot of people say that multiplayer rools because its quick, fun, and creates good memories. onlne gaming is hardly very memorable. and add ons and the like is only good for broad band, and If ity is supposed to cost up up to 30 pounds, thats more than most of us make in a month alone.

online gming is too expensive for most of us here, and there is certainly not much point in getting It if you have friends near you.

i thought i saw you up there in the clouds!

nintendo are just slow!
no matter how long they take to bring things out it will still be hackable, copyable and other illegal and "impossible" things.

they should be online here now, not next year!

and as for biggest online games, um, not sure about that one

Nintendo have signed with SEGA.com to provide online gaming network device.

Nintendo have many plans for online game we don't even know about.

Nintendo are always hesitant on releasing new information about games... by E3 there will be online games out and announcements of the biggest online games on the planet.

Well firstly the voice communicator allows you to talk to others anyway, so you can interact with them, and on most games you can play with a lot more than 3 other people. Plus you're always talking to different people as well, not juts the same few people. Everyone tends to play to a certain style, so I tend to find that after so long I know how friends will play, and games can get predictable, but on Xbox Live there are thousands of people all with different styles. Plus, can you come in from work, start up your console, sit down and get your mates round instantly for a game ? No. But on Xbox Live if I want a game I just start it up and get playing. I was on Mech Assault from 2-3 this morning !

Admittedly the cost of setting it up can be high, but nobody said gaming wsa an essential thing, and the fact that broadband can be used for more than just Xbox Live makes it well worth the cost.

The real reason why online gaming is unpopular on this forum ? THe GC isn't online yet....as soon as it is you'll all be raving about Mario Kart online, or whatever they bring out..

That's debatable... and a statement that will never be proven right or wrong, because there will always be two minds, which can be said concerning just about anything gaming related.

But back to online gaming... I just don't see its' merits. Sure, you can have more players and so on... but where's the socialising? Where's the overall experience of beating your friends at something and being able to gloat? It's just not there. Sorry, but online gaming just can't hold a torch to good old-fashioned multiplayer gaming, where you make a mess on the carpet (via fizzy drinks, beer etc) and can really rub your mate's face in it when you win. Hyuck hyuck!

Like I say, it doesn't interest me. If it did, then I would have bought an X-Box. But it doesn't... and I didn't. So there ya go.

what do you mean?
"cant interact properly"?

you can speak to them, and shout abuse, but i suppose if you mean throw things at them then no, you cant

but online gaming is worth it, if you can afford it.
and its not just about playing against other poeple, its for downloading new add ons, levels, characters, missions and even new games to download!!

Online gaming is crap, to be honest. Who wants to sit on their own and play against people they can't even see, and can't interact with properly? Not me, that's for sure. I'd much rather get together with a bunch of friends and play some proper multiplayer games where I can laugh, shout and swear along with three other people. What's the point of forking out truckloads of money to play games online? Personally, I don't see a point to it.

So you can take your X-Box Live and shove it wherever you like, although may I suggest where the sun don't shine?
