This means that when all your Xbox buddies are LIVE next year, you'll be going as green with envy as their snot-coloured console. Dissapointed? Angry? No, most likely you'll be entering the first phase of acceptance: Denial.....
"I don't believe him", "Nintendo will be online soon enough", "This is Xbox propoganda", etc, etc. But I must object to the last comment. This message is no Xbox-biased snipe at plumber-lovers. It is a charitable piece of advice: SELL YOUR GAMECUBE!
And if anyone is still reading after that last shocking sentence, I'll explain what possesed me to splutter such an outrageous squib of flabble:
1.) If you sell now, you will get more money for your Gamecube than later. The longer you wait, the less you will get
2.) When you sell, go by an Xbox bundle. They're better value than PS2, the Xbox is way more powerful, has a fair selection of games now (obviously not as many as playstation, but still enough) and most importantly,
3.) YOU CAN GO ONLINE IN 2003!
I'd say the chances of you taking my advice seriously are slim. But you can't say I haven't tried - If you hang onto your cube, you'll only regret it later when online gaming arrives in the UK.
Go on. Join us......

your missing the point!
i pay that for broadband anyways just for home use, downloading films, games, music etc.
also for work, so to me its worth it.
if you cant afford it then fine, go for dial up, but watch YOUR bills rise when you play online!!
Broadband is the way to go!
plus i pay £34.99 for a 1meg connection, you can get it cheaper, £14.99 i think is the budget one for people who cant afford to pay for quality service and speed
Don't post anti nintendo in a nintendo forum, we are here to talk nintendo, not have to get angry over a small minded person who thinks he is being clever.
Don't post anti microsoft in a microsoft forum, they are there to talk microsoft, not have to get angry over a small minded person who thinks he is being clever.
and belldandy, I agree. I was a fanboy. I did actually post several topics far worse that this. I wish to make apologies. I will try now only to use facts and popular hearsay against opposition, and only use those facts and popoular hearsay in self defence.
I will stick to making silly, small minded comments about forum regulars.
;)
I might be getting an Xbox for Christmas for some reason...nothing else to get.

So £462.87 for the initial year? And you get what? A fancy headset and a couple of demos? Just watch the cost rise as you buy online games, too.

It's called business sense, mate. By pouring all their resources into online gaming, Microsoft are shooting themselves in the foot. Did you know less than 40% of gamers will go online.. ever? Sure, this was a simple survey, but you can get quite a clear indication of where the wider market will be.
Nintendo are catering for that 40% though, with their online service out and doing well in Japan and the States, and a confirmed release for next year.. ooh, around the time of X-Box LIVE, methinks. And if Nintendo were so terrible when it comes to online gaming, why have Microsoft expressed 'serious concerns' about their plans?

Slim? Slim? Bloody hell, they're nothing, let alone next to. Why? Because you're a moron. You've failed to look at the facts on hand, and have given people a biased overview of a great console. Online gaming may be the way forward, but it's certainly shouldn't be top priority.
plus in theory it will be goodbye phone bills, just plug in xbox live and talk to my mates for free over my broadband connection!!
> yeah lets all buy ex box live with a huge choice of 2 online games
Well actually this version of Xbox Live is meant for a wider beta test, and is not the full retail version - it's meant as a way to satisfy those who could not get on the beta and new consumers who don't want to wait until March 14th. By the official date there will be 40+ Xbox Live games, as it stands all Xbox Live users have special versions of Whacked and Moto Gp, whilst Mech Assault and Unreal Tournament and Splinter Cell all utilise Xbox Live right now, with Ghost Recon and NFL Fever on the way in the next week or so, and a full version of whacked. So you're wrong.
> nintendo gamecube is already on line in japan, x box isnt
Oh dear wrong again, it is online but takeup is slow due to the low user base and reliance on credit card billing.
~~Belldandy~~
I kinda can't see how alot of people don't like it...
Broadband means you DO NOT pay any online fees!!
XBOX live is only £42.99 (including VAT) and thats it for a year!
my 1meg NTL broadband is only £34.99 a month, thats nothing.
And as for the comments about having no interest in online gaming, i dont have much either, i mainly want it for adding new missions and levels to games.
I have splinter cell and when i get Xbox LIVE next week i will be able to download new missions and add ons.
Gamecube Broadband is already up and running as someone below (sorry cant remember your name) and is working fine in both Japan and the US.
Its only a matter of time before it comes here.
I reckon it will be soon after Xmas.
I have already got my US Broadband adaptor and have Phantasy Star online arriving on the 14th of December.
I loved this game on DC and used to play it shed loads!
