If you're reading this, and you bought a Gamecube, accept my sympathy. What's this? You're enraged by my insult to your precious purple handbag? Well, ok, I can understand that. After all, even if you did go for the cheaper option, you still did shell out quite a lot on a games console you hope will last several years. But it seems prospects are dim for Nintendo owners when it comes to online gaming - In case you haven't heard already, Nintendo have been the first to admit they have the most conservative and cautious approach to online gaming out of the three consoles. My guess is that if Gamecube ever makes the transition to online play, it won't be until at least 200004. Oops, sorry that was a typo. I meant 2004. Hehehe.

This means that when all your Xbox buddies are LIVE next year, you'll be going as green with envy as their snot-coloured console. Dissapointed? Angry? No, most likely you'll be entering the first phase of acceptance: Denial.....

"I don't believe him", "Nintendo will be online soon enough", "This is Xbox propoganda", etc, etc. But I must object to the last comment. This message is no Xbox-biased snipe at plumber-lovers. It is a charitable piece of advice: SELL YOUR GAMECUBE!

And if anyone is still reading after that last shocking sentence, I'll explain what possesed me to splutter such an outrageous squib of flabble:

1.) If you sell now, you will get more money for your Gamecube than later. The longer you wait, the less you will get
2.) When you sell, go by an Xbox bundle. They're better value than PS2, the Xbox is way more powerful, has a fair selection of games now (obviously not as many as playstation, but still enough) and most importantly,
3.) YOU CAN GO ONLINE IN 2003!

I'd say the chances of you taking my advice seriously are slim. But you can't say I haven't tried - If you hang onto your cube, you'll only regret it later when online gaming arrives in the UK.

Go on. Join us......

First thing is, the nearest Broadband exchange is about 2 miles away, with no plans to bring it any closer to home. Yes, you may argue that i'm going to uni in two years, but that's beside the point. Why? Let me put it this way. Out of all my friends who own a next-gen console, only one wants to play online, and he's not even sure about it now. And why's that? Well, the first thing is, cost. I wouldn't earn enough money to be able to play online each month, way too expensive for someone like me who'd rather spend their money on a good game or a CD. If you remember the DC, hackers were able to switch your console off from half way around the world, and personally, I wouldn't want that happening to me.

And besides, there's only a handfull of games that support online capability. When I did work experience at Microsoft, I played Whacked on Xbox live against someone in Japan, and it's not all it's cracked up to be. There's also loads of bugs too. We treid playing Unreal Championship, but it didn't like the idea of going online. And it was the finished version too!

So forgive me if I don't want to go online, because from where i'm standing, online gaming isn't all what it's cracked up to be.

Online play? Who wants it? You get more pleasure from thrashing your mate next to you and seeing the look of dismay on his foolish mien than destroying an "unknown entity" hundreds or thousands miles away through a broadband connection. What's all this fuss of jumping onto the online bandwagon? If I wanted to play people online I would have bought a P.C.

Apart from PSO, there's no other game that holds even the slightest of interest for me. Reading your post has actually made me furious:

*slaps two shells into his 12-bore and engages the secondary "double-fire" function*

If you want to go online, then buy a P.C. If you want to play quality games, buy a GC. Simple.

*swivels 12-bore towards myamoto and fires, ripping his stupid head off and splattering blood and and fragments of his small brain over a 15 foot radius*

Ahh...another successful mission accomplished. Platinum award bestowed!

I'm not that bothered about Nintendo online. I'll be soon getting a Gamecube, i've already got an Xbox, so i'll just play Live, and use my Gamecube as an offline console.

simple?

I'd get it for Shenmue, but that would be like playing into Gates's greedy, kiddy fiddling hands.

Shenmue 3 isn't guranteed Xbox exclusive anyway, what with recent events with Sega I reckon that it'll go multiformat....hopefully

Online gaming isn't ready yet on consoles.

It isn't even ready on PC's.

Online games just aren't that fun; they're way too competitive. People don't seem to play for fun, they always seem to play to get the highest score, like that's somehow going to prove something. You can have a few good games online now and again, but not often.

I remember when I first connected to the net I played online non-stop for about a month, and this week? I've not touched one online game at all.
