If you're reading this, and you bought a Gamecube, accept my sympathy. What's this? You're enraged by my insult to your precious purple handbag? Well, ok, I can understand that. After all, even if you did go for the cheaper option, you still did shell out quite a lot on a games console you hope will last several years. But it seems prospects are dim for Nintendo owners when it comes to online gaming - In case you haven't heard already, Nintendo have been the first to admit they have the most conservative and cautious approach to online gaming out of the three consoles. My guess is that if Gamecube ever makes the transition to online play, it won't be until at least 200004. Oops, sorry that was a typo. I meant 2004. Hehehe.

This means that when all your Xbox buddies are LIVE next year, you'll be going as green with envy as their snot-coloured console. Dissapointed? Angry? No, most likely you'll be entering the first phase of acceptance: Denial.....

"I don't believe him", "Nintendo will be online soon enough", "This is Xbox propoganda", etc, etc. But I must object to the last comment. This message is no Xbox-biased snipe at plumber-lovers. It is a charitable piece of advice: SELL YOUR GAMECUBE!

And if anyone is still reading after that last shocking sentence, I'll explain what possesed me to splutter such an outrageous squib of flabble:

1.) If you sell now, you will get more money for your Gamecube than later. The longer you wait, the less you will get
2.) When you sell, go by an Xbox bundle. They're better value than PS2, the Xbox is way more powerful, has a fair selection of games now (obviously not as many as playstation, but still enough) and most importantly,
3.) YOU CAN GO ONLINE IN 2003!

I'd say the chances of you taking my advice seriously are slim. But you can't say I haven't tried - If you hang onto your cube, you'll only regret it later when online gaming arrives in the UK.

Go on. Join us......

Not really. More and more people are getting a GameCube, and rightly so - it's got the best and most original games around. Take that, Mr Gates!

I'm not saying dial up will be cheaper (though on the GC, you can get an ISP, I've heard, with a fixed monthly/yearly rate), I'm just saying that online gaming will be too expensive for your average Joe.

If this guy knew ANYTHING, he'd know that the gamecube is fully cappable of going online. If he knew ANYTHING, he'd know that the GC has both broadband and modem adaptors at the bottom of the console.

although, onvious;ly, he doesn't. And he doesn't seem to want to veiw the intellegent comments mada against his veiws on GC. and the swearing. lets not forget that.

just a short post to address a few posts in this thread...
alot of the ppl that see no point in online gaming havent even played online games. that is why they comlain bout it, not cause there is no online option for the gc (re: belldandy).
nintendo are slow with things like online gaming etc but let me put this situation to you...
when a new thing is launched (eg online gaming) it is easily hackable, expensive and only supported by a few (games/companies). but when it gains in mainstream popularity it will become cheaper, more hack proof and the support will be there.
so when nintendo dont have online play at launch, it isnt 100% bad. when they do have it, the support will be there (ie. more games), and broadband (which is ESSENTIAL for online play) will be much cheaper. to pay £30 a month just to play a game is bull. but its getting cheaper all the time.

sure id prefer to have the option of online play right from may when we all bought our gcs but im sure when it does get released for the gc, it will come with some nintendo magic included - something im willing to wait for.

online gaming is the future, fact not opinion. sure there is no beer/crisps on the carpet and no jeering the guy next to you on the couch cause you just beat him in wave race (re: darkmark) but online gaming has a HUGE community and there is always ppl playing away, no matter what the hour. and the experience is different every time as you are playing with somebody you never played with before. (i think) as mentioned earlier, 'the same 3 mates play the same all the time' thing is true and you never know what you are gonna get with 25 complete strangers (who prob dont even speak the same language!) all playing marion cart, online.

Amos.

good for you, although I still don't see why you have to post nintendo derogatory comments in here. just get SR to tell Dringo to stay out of the X-box forums. and me. I'm clearly not safe enough to go in there :)

Exactly. Whilst many here have said they cannot afford it because they don't have jobs or are at school e.t.c. the whole point is that Nintendo needs to target consumers who will spend money on the console.

I wanted a console I could go online with pretty fast, so I bought an Xbox, then got broadband, and I've bought about 9 games for it. What have I spent on Nintendo stuff ? Bought Eternal Darkness and Starfox and traded them in. If it wasn't for the GBA bringing in the serious cash Nintendo would be screwed...

Incidentally, played a GBA in Virgin today - never played one before - had Yoshi's whateveritscalled on it and I was quite impressed by the quality of it, may have to see about getting one after Xmas.

online gaming isnt based at under 16, or 18 year olds, due to online language and content.
