To be completely honest, I wasnt gonna bother going online with my PS2. However, I just bought the PSM2 mag and they have a disc which showed you them playing 'Socom Navy Seals, online. It looked great fun.

So now it has sparked an interest, I know you need to have broadband and I have read that it costs £44.99, but is that £44.99 per month, year, or what?
Also, what other expenses are involved in this?

To cut a long post short, does anyone have any info that could be helpful?

Thanks.

I wouldn't say that. In fact don't think any of the online capabilities on any of the consoles will succeed, simply because nobody can be bothered to pay the money. If any console is to work it is th PS2 as it has the best multiplayer games, and it has sold the most consoles.

FM. Were you talking from fact or theory when you were on about subscriptions?

I dont think I would bother with it if I had to pay a subscription to each game.

Games are expensive enough without having to fork out more money to actually play them, that is utter stupidity.

Well duuuu, we've already got that! But that doesn't change the fact that 20 out of the 22 cars you are racing are brainless automatons, or the other soldiers running around are just working off programs... with online games it's a whole different experience. I think it's got massive potential. Especially with the live voice stuff.

I take your point about it being the way forward. But as yet theres not enough backing i feel.

Of course, as things get further down the line that will more than likely change, probably, as will my opinion.

It might not interest you but I think it's fairly certain that the future lies in this direction. Gaming has become a form of social entertainment, not a test of skill and reaction like it was in the 80s and 90s. People play to have fun and pass time. And what better form of socaial entertainment is there than online gaming?

Online gaming on consoles interests me not at all. If i wanted to play online i would be doing it via my PC and internet where there is already a much larger user base and range of people to play on it. So far there arent that many games for the PS2 that interest me online either, and for me to consider it, developers are going to have to give it a bigger backing than they are.

Well, everyone I know that is playing on Xbox Live claim they will never go back to regular gaming again. Haven't heard about any connection problems (although I hope there is, I hate Microsoft!)

X-Box live is meant to be an absoloute failure, due to too many people playing on Dial-ups.
