To be completely honest, I wasnt gonna bother going online with my PS2. However, I just bought the PSM2 mag and they have a disc which showed you them playing 'Socom Navy Seals, online. It looked great fun.
So now it has sparked an interest, I know you need to have broadband and I have read that it costs £44.99, but is that £44.99 per month, year, or what?
Also, what other expenses are involved in this?
To cut a long post short, does anyone have any info that could be helpful?

Yes but you talk to people in the game. You talk about the game, you organise strageties. I was playing CTF on Unreal and the whole team was talking, pointing out where the enemy was, when they needed cover fire e.t.c.
Yes keyboards are better for Email, but XBox Live is JUST online gaming, NO internet, NO chat rooms. Dont forget an XBox is NOT a PC, a keyboard is esstential on a PC but not for an XBox.

I think in America you can get a 56K modem, but I think Sony want it Broadband only over here. PS2 online wont be out until Spring time, so by then your town may have broadband. Just phone up BT and ask for Broadband, then if there is enough demand in your area they will enable your exchange for ADSL.
Where i live you can't get broadband is there any other way of going online with the PS2?

You can use NTL set top cable box for XBox, people are using it now for XBox Live.
