So now it has sparked an interest, I know you need to have broadband and I have read that it costs £44.99, but is that £44.99 per month, year, or what?
Also, what other expenses are involved in this?
To cut a long post short, does anyone have any info that could be helpful?
Thanks.

And XBox Live you TALK to people, which is even faster than a keyboard :).
£42.99 for XBox Live is great value, you get a years subscription starting from March 14th 2003, so I have well over a year. You get 2 demos, and the communicator(headset). Its so cool being able to talk to people. Just meeting up with the Americans and hearing there accents, and them saying "Hey cool your British". Nice to be able to talk to organise team tactics, or brag to people as your fragging them.
At the moment I am playing Unreal Championship and MechAssault online, while talking to people from the UK and US. Really easy to use, especially with features like your friends list which works like MSN. So when a friend pops on I get a icon saying so, and then I can join there game if I want or even send them an invite to play my game.

Because it has only just come out to buy on Microsofts website, previously it was only a few lucky 3 thousand including me who had the kit early. I dont think that many users say its a let down. If your read most posts you will probably find that most users love XBox Live. Microsoft said all the features that would be in XBox Live and they are all on there NOW. In America they sold well over 150,000 units of XBox Live in the first few days.

Is that all it cost to play online with the X-Box? Thats great value, if they get decent games for it I may be tempted.

Theory, just guessing. If it was pay to play per game then I'd restrict myself to just one or two games like SOCOM and FFXI.
If it was, like the XBox, an annual fee of £45 or so for access to play all games online without any extra costs, then I doubt very much if you'd see me posting here much more because I'd be playing online 24/7

Listen Matey, in the US any connection was alowed and hence the problem came up. So in the UK they allowed broadband only users and hardly anyone has it. It's a failure.

If its a complete success then how come a small majority of Xbox users only use Xbox live. Less than half the people who own an Xbox as well as broadband are online. This totals up to many who either don't want to use it or can't use it. Many of the people who have used it say that its a let down!

I see your point, i suppose so, i still dislike the X Box, however, i might get one for Christmas, or when a nice x box fire pack comes out.

come on mate, only a fool could argue the point that the xbox is a superior system, it may have crappy joypads, but the hardware inside is more powerfull full stop fact, sony would tell you the same thing, its like trying to argue a 32 meg graphics card is better than a 128. PS2 kicks butt, i love it, but its not better than the box, it may have a few good games the box cant liscence but that shouldnt reflect the hardware involved. And lets face it the online service, certainly isnt as good, imageine the cost of play if each game wants some cash, crazy
