Right now I'm surprised at how popular it is. The speech is really annoyingly slow, with one of the most infuriating noises ever recorded at the end of each sentence. Plus the first word of the sentence is usually said, for example "Hey" or "Hello", which is just...unnecessary.
The graphics? Great in a lot of places, in others it's merely passable. I really like some bits, especially the bird that captures Aryll at the start, but the far scenery is made out of cardboard.
The jumping kind of annoys me as well. There is no jump button, but he just jumps when he reaches the end of a platform. It removes the skill, but I guess that's not really the point of the game. That's what your going to say, right? Okay, I take that on board, but at one point I jumped off a ledge thinking it was the right place to go, only to find I'd already been here and couldn't get back up to the ledge. Surely this isn't the point either? A manual jump would've let me get onto a ladder to get back up there.
Now, I haven't got very far for two reasons - hardly any time on the game, no space on the memory card. So I can't comment on battles further into it, but the ones I have done have been incredibly easy. To the point of boredom. Even when you have to get a weapon from the opponent, all you do is stand there pressing block and wait for it to hit you. And it even misses a lot of the time.
Basically random musings here, but it seems very simplistic and Mario-ish most of the time. I'm probably the only person who will understand that, but basically it isn't a good thing. And I know most people won't have got this far because the moment they saw it was primarily an anti-Zelda thread they'll have furiously stuffed on their angry hats ready to type out an amazingly flawed and typo-riddled reply on why I'm wrong in under three seconds, and that's fine. If you want to do that, go ahead, but don't expect to get anywhere. It's all subjective, there is no proof, and a lot of people can't even tell the difference between fact and opinion.
Oh, and what's with those guard pigs who have 360 degree vision?

Woah, there! Mr "Massive Generalisation is my middle name" strikes again. You ask if I can get any more pathetic? Try reading your own posts. Time and time again I've corrected you on things that i've said and you never pay any attention! Putting the word crap in inverted commas means that I've said it. I haven't.

Once again. Did I say marginally slower?

It doesn't annoy you that you're wasting half your time reading some rubbish that bears no importance to the game? That you may have already headr before?

And how, pray, would you know? You thing I've played "every other game" that you have? You think I didn't find it annoying then if I did play those games? Most games have a function to make the text automatically forward to the end of a chunk.

1) Codecs can be forwarded to the end so you can read them at any speed you like.
2) They have real voices, so if you want to listen then it really doesn't matter much, as you'll follow at the same speed as the voice over.
3) You skip them altogether pretty quickly.
4) They usually have something of some interest.

Wahey! You're really pushing the boat out tonight. Two in one sentence! I never said it was bad, I just said particular things could be improved upon. And ANY game? I think not. Give me a list of all the games I've "petty rubbished". It won't be long.

With one hand he giveth, with the other he taketh away. I'm giving it a chance Juggins, and this is what I'm thinking right now. Admittedly in that post a minute ago I may have been a little harsh in the wording, but I've been reding the "Best page in the Universe" on realultimatepower.net all day - you get into a certain mindset. Read it and see.
It just happens that these issues were really annoying me today. Maybe another day they wouldn't. Who can say? I admit that they're minor flaws, but to me there are a lot of minor flaws.
> And you do know that holding A or B makes it go faster don't you.
Are you sure? I've made it go faster, but only on certain times - ie when it isn't vitally important (see earlier post for definition of "important").
> It's just a tree...
Summed up perfectly.
Blank appears to be clinging desperatly to the most minor and pathetic thing he can find.
If you don't like the game, just say you don't really enjoy it. But please don't try and tell us it's crap because 0.001% of the game involving a tree isn't to your satisfaction.
Any respect I still had for Blank and his veiws have truly vanished now, because Zelda is crap as at the start a 2 second scene doesn't look the way I want it to.
But it isn't an uber realistic photo-textured adventure either.
Its a light hearted but quite serious adventure. In a cel-shaded style, thereby giving it a light hearted style.
And the fact that a tree breaking does not have the right effects does not make a game bad.
Muha.

No, just because I don't want one extreme doesn't mean I want the other. And if you need an analogy, just because I don't want to freeze my nuts off doesn't mean I want to die of heat stroke.
I would at least like to see one frame of footage in between "whole branch" and "snapped branch".
It isn't a cartoon, and things like this make it farcical.
I'm sorry but these reasons for it being 'crap' are laughable, you obviously have the expectation that every game will look and play the same, and be based around imitating real life.
Ohhhh wa wa wa the text flows at a marginally slower speed than I can read it at. Big deal, I can read the text at three times the speed it actually flows, but it's nothing like irritating enough to even be classed as a slight annoyance; you're obviously doing nothing but picking the most petty 'flaws' you can find. Most other games I've played don't have the text scrolling any faster than in Zelda, you don't b*tch and moan about them do you?
And I suppose you hate MGS games yes? Because every five steps you have to listen to a slow moving and irritating Codec message that only gets in the way of you actually enjoying the game.
pfttt You can't find a decent reason why it's 'bad', no gameplay issues; just petty rubbish that you can pick up on ANY game.
Go ahead and name any game, but there are loads of tiny 'flaws' like this in every game, but none of them are remotely close to spoiling it in anyway; unless you're a nitpicking miserable little git like yourself. If the speed of text makes you hit yourself with a bat and a tiny sound effect at the end of a message box drives you to a murderous rage, don't bloody play it you moron.
And you do know that holding A or B makes it go faster don't you.
Also, I don't expect every game to be brilliant in the way people who largely visit this forum do. Hearing "This is the best game ever" before it's released anywhere is not a rare occasion here. I hope that a game will be brilliant, but I still look at it from an objective point of view - for example Devil May Cry 2. I loved the original, but I can see that the second just plainly isn't as good. Sure, it has many good qualities, but it's lost a lot as well.
