Well, having never really played a Zelda game before, and certainly never having owned one, I decided to chance the Wind Waker.

Right now I'm surprised at how popular it is. The speech is really annoyingly slow, with one of the most infuriating noises ever recorded at the end of each sentence. Plus the first word of the sentence is usually said, for example "Hey" or "Hello", which is just...unnecessary.

The graphics? Great in a lot of places, in others it's merely passable. I really like some bits, especially the bird that captures Aryll at the start, but the far scenery is made out of cardboard.

The jumping kind of annoys me as well. There is no jump button, but he just jumps when he reaches the end of a platform. It removes the skill, but I guess that's not really the point of the game. That's what your going to say, right? Okay, I take that on board, but at one point I jumped off a ledge thinking it was the right place to go, only to find I'd already been here and couldn't get back up to the ledge. Surely this isn't the point either? A manual jump would've let me get onto a ladder to get back up there.

Now, I haven't got very far for two reasons - hardly any time on the game, no space on the memory card. So I can't comment on battles further into it, but the ones I have done have been incredibly easy. To the point of boredom. Even when you have to get a weapon from the opponent, all you do is stand there pressing block and wait for it to hit you. And it even misses a lot of the time.

Basically random musings here, but it seems very simplistic and Mario-ish most of the time. I'm probably the only person who will understand that, but basically it isn't a good thing. And I know most people won't have got this far because the moment they saw it was primarily an anti-Zelda thread they'll have furiously stuffed on their angry hats ready to type out an amazingly flawed and typo-riddled reply on why I'm wrong in under three seconds, and that's fine. If you want to do that, go ahead, but don't expect to get anywhere. It's all subjective, there is no proof, and a lot of people can't even tell the difference between fact and opinion.

Oh, and what's with those guard pigs who have 360 degree vision?

The speech on this game is so damn annoying. A noise which can only be described as "dinkle-doo" at the end of every sentence - thanks Nintendo, I don't know what a full stop means - multiplies any level of annoyance you previously had by twelve. But you could tell that from the fact that it's a "dinkle-doo". That sound is almost annoying by definition.

And then as if that weren't enough you it won't let you speed up speech. All I want to do is skip to the end of the sentence, as, you know, I can read at my pace now, being older than five, but anything classed as "important" must read at it's own pace. Note: "important" is classed as any of the storyline, any information on the controls, goals etc plus any addition random stuff they feel like. This will ignore the fact that you can go back to the person and make them repeat the information if you missed it, and you have to press another button to move on anyway.

Oh, and yeah, I really appreciate it when someone's shouting and the words suddenly appear in size 72, because I have no imagination of my own and capital letters just wouldn't emphasise it enough.

And another thing - the cartoon style. Not the graphics, but for example Link looks down and sees he's in a barrel. Okay, he suffered some form of temporary blindness AND numbness when they were putting him in there. And let's not forget deafness. The bit where the girl falls from the branch near the start? The branch goes from complete one second to completely snapped the next, with no transition period. The girl hangs in the air for a moment before falling. Why in God's name is this allowed?

Ah well. Blank does not like it. I loved Metroid and Mario. And OTT was one of the best ever, so WW should be well liked by me. I should say.

Some people have no patience (not Blank) but people who say games like MP are boring.......

*sigh*

This isn't true on all occasions, as I can recall a number of Nintendo games that have been generally ignored by the public. Doshin, Pikmin, and hell, even Mario Sunshine didn't receive the sales Nintendo were expecting from it. Now, yes, I liked my experiences with each of those games, but many people didn't, so stating that most people seem to love everything Nintendo produce is highly untrue.

And anyway, yes, I do agree with you - most people here seem to love almost everything Nintendo produce, and there's a simple explantion for that... Nintendo really do know how to make a game, and are quite easily the best developers around. Fact. :-)

Is that why you've been on the forum's late recently. You don't get the pleasure during the day at work so you go on at night instead.

I find the storyline in GTA pointless. I'd much rather a GTA game that has a massive area to drive around in than a storyline. Just face it, most people who own the game prefer to drive around, smash up cars, do insane jumps and brutally murder people rather than the actual story itself.
