Well, having never really played a Zelda game before, and certainly never having owned one, I decided to chance the Wind Waker.

Right now I'm surprised at how popular it is. The speech is really annoyingly slow, with one of the most infuriating noises ever recorded at the end of each sentence. Plus the first word of the sentence is usually said, for example "Hey" or "Hello", which is just...unnecessary.

The graphics? Great in a lot of places, in others it's merely passable. I really like some bits, especially the bird that captures Aryll at the start, but the far scenery is made out of cardboard.

The jumping kind of annoys me as well. There is no jump button, but he just jumps when he reaches the end of a platform. It removes the skill, but I guess that's not really the point of the game. That's what your going to say, right? Okay, I take that on board, but at one point I jumped off a ledge thinking it was the right place to go, only to find I'd already been here and couldn't get back up to the ledge. Surely this isn't the point either? A manual jump would've let me get onto a ladder to get back up there.

Now, I haven't got very far for two reasons - hardly any time on the game, no space on the memory card. So I can't comment on battles further into it, but the ones I have done have been incredibly easy. To the point of boredom. Even when you have to get a weapon from the opponent, all you do is stand there pressing block and wait for it to hit you. And it even misses a lot of the time.

Basically random musings here, but it seems very simplistic and Mario-ish most of the time. I'm probably the only person who will understand that, but basically it isn't a good thing. And I know most people won't have got this far because the moment they saw it was primarily an anti-Zelda thread they'll have furiously stuffed on their angry hats ready to type out an amazingly flawed and typo-riddled reply on why I'm wrong in under three seconds, and that's fine. If you want to do that, go ahead, but don't expect to get anywhere. It's all subjective, there is no proof, and a lot of people can't even tell the difference between fact and opinion.

Oh, and what's with those guard pigs who have 360 degree vision?

pftt

Don't be such a pessamist.

Don't buy a game and only talk about it's flaws, if there are many good points about the game that you really like, why don't you just talk about them? I'm sure you'd find that the minor irritants you had before soon become nothing.

If I said just ONCE "Zelda is crap because of a two second tree animation" you have my permission to spank me across the hole.

Look, just read this one bit, if nothing else. I'm not saying the game is crap. I'm not saying that every game is perfect except this one. I'm just saying that a lot of things in it annoy me - if they don't annoy you that's fine, but it's all subjective, so anything you say isn't going to make it any less annoying to me.

I could have gone into gameplay details, but I chose to go into the speech as there was a lot on that particular subject that I didn't like. As far as gameplay details go there aren't many that I haven't already said - and just because I have spoken about bad points doesn't mean there aren't any good points.

I see what you mean about everything that people says is interesting, but what I meant was telling you how to do things in the game that I'd already been told or had figured out.

Obviously I'm not completely discgusted with the game or I would've stopped playing by now. Doesn't the fact that I'm still playing show something?

And now, good night.

Blank, Zelda is a good game and I think WS is just trying to make u c it but u know saying silly things like the tree snapping didn't look really does sound kinda stupid but u know every1 has their own opinion and if that's ur opinion about the game, then that's cool with me.

*yawns*

When I don't like games I don't feel inclined to write pages or writing analysing every single bit of the game that I think sucks.

I didn't like starfox Adventure, thought it was probably the worst game i've ever played. Never felt the need to write page upon page about its crapness.

When I said petty flaws you can find in any game, I didn't mean you directly; I meant that every game has small flaws, that if someone picked up on would just be called petty.

Zelda is a world, everything the people say interests me, that's why I run around and talk to everyone. I just enjoy finding out about everything, even if it's just some woman talking about how nice some flowers look.

And if you've already talked to someone, you can skip straight to the end of the block, and once you've talked to one of the fish once, you can skip everything the others say if you just want to get the map details.

It seems apparent to me that you just don't enjoy adventure games; because talking to people is a big part of adventures, you weren't perhaps expecting some sort of action game?

And me pathetic? I've never bad mouthed a game because of something so minor as the speed of text or a 2 second scene involving a tree. If I don't like something I can give you good reasons, ones that involve general gameplay.

Ha. Desperately clinging. You think I WANT to hate this game? Yeah, likely after I've just spent near enough forty quid on it. Are you a complete egit?

Never said it was crap. Certainly never said it was crap because of that alone.

Whitestripes - don't bother reading my posts, it's obvious that you'll read only what you want to. Whatever I post you'll hear "Zelda iz crap becuz uv tr33".

If you have no respect for me that's fine, because I certainly have no respect for someone who just laps up anything by Nintendo indiscriminately and gives it full marks. If they announced a "Legend of Zelda: AssCrap Tales" game, you would look forward to it, and don't say you wouldn't.
