But that's just me.
I don't hate Microsoft (pls explain, all you anti-Gates monkeys exactly WHY you detest Microsoft, instead of just saying that because it's fashionable to)

The more I see of the X-Box, the more impressed I am.
I dont care if it costs £299, so did the PS2.
I can afford that.

I will buy whatever console appeals to me.
Which is why I am bypassing the Gamecube.
Not because "It sucks!" but because I don't have any interest in Nintendo.

Did anyone not understand that? I dont hate the Gamecube, I just have no interest. I dont care what anyone else does, I like the look of the X-Box and think I'm getting one.
I enjoy my PS2 just as much as I thought I would.
I enjoy my PC a lot more, and the X-Box looks like something I'm interested in.

Now all you Nintendo/Sony Fanboys can flame away and tell me why the X-Box "sucks"
Because I haven't heard one valid reason that stands up to scrutiny.

I have no opinion on Microsoft. Windows runs OK for me, never tried Linux because I can't be bothered, and I like playing Age of Empires 2. That seems good enough to me. Doesn't mean I like Bill Gates. Or dislike him. He's a grey corporation type-person that has lots of money. Simple.
And I won't get the X-Box because I can't afford it. I'll be getting a Gamecube. Why? Because I have a NES, SNES, N64 and have felt no need to change. My sister has a PS, and I've played on it, as good as the N64. No real difference. Same as probably the Gamecube/X-Box difference. So I'll stick to my convention, thank you.

Nah, it's personal preference about what does it for you.

I was intially hesitant to the idea of Microsoft doing a console, but the more I see of it, the more I start to like it.

I'm not saying The X-Box is better than PS2 or Gamecube at all (if anyone thinks that), I'm saying that, for me, this is the next purchase.

It does look massive though...

Those were my thoughts exactly when I first saw the PS2, it was just so ugly it put me off looking at it let along playing on it. The X-Box is a beast of a machine and probally ways a metric tonne but don't be put off by that, 'You can't judge a book by it's front cover'. Just remember that and you'll be alright Ali.

I must say, I like it more every time I see it, but I don't think I'll be buying one. I'm a superficial kind of guy, and I don't like the way it looks - it's just too damn big. The design is nice, but it needs to be smaller. Am I shallow?

Is this another one of your tricks to see whether people just suck up to what
you're saying? I think Bill Gates is a genius and deserves every penny he's
earnt. That's right - he's earnt it. Thanks to him the world is a different
place. We wouldn't be able to be doing what we're doing now (chatting over the
internet) if he'd never invented what is the world's most widely used operating
system. I'm not saying I'm gonna go to America and marry the bloke, but just that he's an innovator and it's changed the world.

You're god damn right, at last someone was willing to speak what they feel rather then let someone else tell them what they should feel. Bill Gates might have nicked the idea but at the end of the day he made the company what it is and even with his $40,000,000,000 he still does deserve everything he gets.

Everyone hates him because it seems that he puts bugs in the software so you have to upgrade but he has done such a good job to bring the computer industry to where it is today. Ok £300 is a heavty sum and I won't be buying it too soon but it does look very impressive, but if you go over to Prime I did a post about all the hype around games and looks can be very decieving.

A lot of people are deemed to use MS products because everyone else does, which involes compatibility problems...

It's nice to know that you enjoy your PS2 as well as I do. Yes...I also have interest in the XBOX, but Nintendo is looking very good as well. The one element that you are overlooking is that game developers backup Sony's console, meaning games will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2. You will not find games such as Tekken 4, Ridge Racer, or Time Splitters on any other console. Even Metal Gear Solid 2 has not yet been confirmed, but still there are some people that believe that there is a 'Metal Gear X' arriving on XBOX. I hope that it does come to XBOX; it would be nice to see what Metal Gear looks like on it. You will also get Silent Hill 2 on XBOX, the director's cut of the game, which is obviously a good thing. But remember that most games will be exclusive to PlayStation 2, which is why I am sticking with that.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
