If the x-box costs £299 in the UK, $299 in the US...
Then it will fail. Europeans have had enough of being screwed - especially be greedy American giants Microsoft. £45 a game - you must be joking. I won't pay more than £35. You could buy 5 second hand quality PS titles for each x-box one... And consumers (everyday people that walk into GAME) will know that by looking at the shelves infront of them.
2 x-box games, and you could BUY a PS1 with a game or 2!!! Imagine what you could do with £300! Buy a PS1 and every classic available!
The x-box is a console being sold at a PC price. It's doomed.
Yes, the Playstation 2 cost that amount at launch, I even bough my original PS for £300 many years ago. The difference is that when they were launched they were the only option in the market that could provide consumers with the games they needed/wanted. Now the PS2 and gamecube (both at £199) will be in the shops alongside it!
NO-ONE WILL BUY THE X-BOX!! They have no idea about the UK market. They are insulting us with this price. Whay does the x-box offer over the other consoles? A couple of exclusive titles and more polygons per second??
They can go shove Abe's Odessey up BG's behind!

:)
That was quite an impressive Scouse accent there mate!

I've heard some spark plugs are quite bright actually. (There was a joke in there somewhere, but it got lost in an empty matchbox....)
I'm am off to do some research in to this as I have

This is true. Some figures for the Jap launch of the GC don't bode amazingly well. 900,000 units of the PS2 sold on launch, and only 450,000 units of the GC.
On your argument about being aimed at different markets, why

I didn't think they were in direct competition, but as they were the only "next-gen" consoles about at the time, they were the only ones that could be compared, so naturally it would seem as if they are in competiton.

Cool, when's the first show, can I come at watch?
I apologise for my stupidity once again, but at least I can

This is true. But I like mud slinging, especially when nude and in a tub with Anna Kournikova and Rachel from S Club 7...
:-)
:)
So my

What you obviously fail to realise is that the GC is a GAMES CONSOLE and the PS" and XBox are ENTERTAINMENT CENTRES.
The PS2 and XBox play DVD's, and music CD's and VCD's (I think).
Whereas the GC just plays games.
Can you not see the difference?
One is an entertainment centre, the other is a games console.
It has even been said on various XBox websites (www.xbox.com, www.planetxbox.com) that MS admit that they are only competing with Sony, and NOT Nintendo, for the very reasons I've said.
So as for my argument "lacking in evidence" you're obviosuly speaking out of your s***-hole. If you go and do some research, you'll see what I mean.

Ah ha... Good third party support is crucial, I was refering to the bad thirs partied that were responsible for producing most of the rubbish oon the PSX!!
> I've pointed out the facts to you, but you're obviously incapable of drawing the obvious conclusion from the evidence.
So my stupidity is justified by my lask of understanding of your argument about different markets due to film playback...Mmmm! And because of this, thry're not aimed at the games market? OK.. And that was your only fact? Albiet unsupported and lacking in evidence?
>Sorry to everyone else, I did try. But some cases are beyond even my help...
And that's the best come back you have...
You obviously have a better understanding of the market then me ?;-) but as for your understanding of what each console could do... You failed miserably... I will go back to my world of stupidity, a world of great s*x, lots of money, highly paid job and a wealth of games... I'd rather be here, than receive your misguided help and wisdom!!

Well, if that's the blinkered point of view you wish to believe, then carry on believing it.
I've pointed out the facts to you, but you're obviously incapable of drawing the obvious conclusion from the evidence.
I'll now leave you with the worst thing I can: Your own stupidity.
Sorry to everyone else, I did try. But some cases are beyond even my help...

Slightly.
If anything, 3rd-party support is the MOST important aspect for any console.

The XBox will be
> able to play DVD's, GC can't, PS2 can. The XBox will enable you to play games online, GC won't, PS2 can (well, will in a couple of months).
The GCN does have online capabilities... PLEASE GET THIS RIGHT!! Just as the rest of the market the GCN comes with the option of 56k or BroadBand... funny that for someone who insists that the GCN doesn't support online play!!
just to make sure you understand this clearly... have a look at:
http://cube.ign.com/hardware.html
As for DVD playback... so? The PS2 does it out og the box, the XBOX requires you to buy the bits to allow you to play them and Nintendo produced a seperate machine for doing this... Sony have announced the possiblilty of Launching a pS2 without DVD playback too...
Most people I know of bought their machinr for playing games, the DVD playback was just a bonus... so effectively, they're the same market!!
