Right, first off it's not the game everyone is waiting for, sadly. The controls are terrible and i have to be honest, worst i've seen in a game yet, Lara must take an extra 10 seconds after you have pushed the walking control (for example) to make her actaully walk!! The same goes to every move she has, which ruins the game straight away. Secondly it has more bugs then a back garden: Fall to your Death and Lara still screams in the Game Over options menu, and after playing for five minutes i've had to turn the console off and back on again as it froze, i can sense a terrible bug later on in the game which will stop you from playing on!!! but we will just have to wait and see. The Graphics are surpeb in cut-scenes but fall to mediocre while playing, however i reckon they get better later on as the first level is dark and rainy anyway, so i'm ready to take this point back. I don't know exactly what Eidos or Core (who do i blame??) have been doing for the last 5 or so years? Not concentrating on this game, that's a fact.

HOWEVER, I think it's great, it's really weird. All these problems haven't made me stop playing it and in 10 minutes of play i must of died at least 10 times (loading to get back into game terrible as well) but it still hasn't stopped me from going on and trying again, but if Trial and Error isn't your thing, Tomb Raider is not for you, SO STEER WELL CLEAR...

If you have been waiting for this for years, get ready for a big shock, your going to be very dissapointed. I have hated every Tomb Raider game since Number 1, but the hype has made me buy this, so i haven't highly anticipated it, making it quite a good game. but for the rest of you, you might begin to think Lara should of died in the last one. I rate this game 6/10 :S

I've never seen any moans about the quality of X-box games... that must be your inferiority complex kicking off again ;-)

Just suprises me that you moan about the quality of Xbox games only to go out and buy a mediocre PS2 game riddled with errors only not to complain about it.

So it would seem. But I'm not lying, or just trying to talk the game up.

I encountered my first bug last night - part of the dialogue repeated during a cut-scene. But that's not exactly a killer, is it?

I can say with all honesty - cross my heart and hope to die - that I have not experienced *any* of the bugs that m.o.t. mentioned earlier in this thread - and the game hasn't crashed once.

If I'd had problems with it, what would be the point in me lying about it? All the bad reviews nearly put me off, but I can only speak from my own experience - and so far that only leaves me thinking that it's 'a good game'.

With regard to your Vice City comment... I noticed more bugs in that game (and GTA3) in the first hour of play than I have in what's now 24+ hours of AOD.

I really don't know what else I can say! Except that, when I do encounter any of these bugs, I'll let you all know!

Maybe I have the only perfect copy of the game in existence? ;-)

Wookieman, you're actually the only person out of all the people I've seen talking about it who hasn't seen a ridiculous number of bugs! Maybe you've been playing Vice City so much you're desensitized to them?? Kidding :-)

Thinking back on Tomb raider, the way it all worked in cubes (like the delay on jumping) was quite good, gave it a proper game feeling rather than a waffly interactive 'experience' like most games try to be these days.

5 seconds? Either you're exaggerating, or there was something very wrong with your controller!

???

You've been able to use analogue sticks in at least the last 3 games. Yes, the lining up was a bit of a pain, but it wasn't that bad. Unlike other platformers, TR has never required you to negotiate platforms at great speed, so it wasn't a major drawback. And while the controls are similar in AOD, you no longer need to be so accurate. It's much more like a regular platformer now.

Unresponsive is the wrong term, or at least it is in my view. The controls are responsive enough for the type of game TR is. It's not a high-speed platformer, and as such doesn't require the same style of control.

Obviously it's just my opinion, but I've never had any problem with the TR controls. They work well, and have always suited the game's style.

Well, I personally don't think they've ever been bad. They've always worked well enough for me. Each to their own.

> this is my opinion and i'm sorry i'm not changing it

Don't recall asking you to - I was just giving my opinion, same as you!

> Be honest has the new Tomb Raider game really lived up to your expectations?

Yup. And after the reviews, it's actually better than I was expecting, and I don't see why everyone's so down on it. It may not be as groundbreaking as everyone was expecting, but then companies always hype and rarely deliver. People were expecting too much, yet again. You'd think people would have learned by now! Personally, AOD is pretty much what I was expecting.

If you've never played the previous ones, you have nothing to compare them to. As someone who has played - and still owns - all of the previous games, all I'm saying is that the controls have always worked for me, and still do.

> i just gave my opinion on the many faults i think it has

And I'm not disagreeing with any of the parts that are your opinion. I simply said that I have not experienced any of the problems/crashes you've encountered, despite having played the game for what is apparently a much longer period of time.

You're saying the game crashes a lot; I'm saying that in 14 hours of solid play, mine hasn't crashed at all. I'm simply giving people my own experiences. That way they can take both sides and make up their own mind.

All this aside, I'm glad you're enjoying it.

What do you mean by todays standards? There are plenty of games which are worthy of their hype. Zelda Wind Waker springs to mind as a recent release which lived up to my high expectations. They are average games by todays standards and with 4 consoles to choose from I can't understand what you mean by that comment.

But seriously - they're not bad games (pretty good by today's standards anywho) but didn't live up to all the hype and weren't the gaming classics everyone was hoping for.
