Got a little excited about RTS games the other day.

Aside from the average sounding Alien vs Predator game are there any other RTS games in progress for Xbox?

Link up would be perfect for these aswell.

I have played Ghost Recon both on and offline and I can't stand it on either. Its one of the worst games I have played so far this year. Granted online on the PC version was slightly better as I teamed up with a few people. Despite the online being better it didn't make it one bit enjoyable to play. Counter Strike is a completely different game. The terrorists plant the bomb, CT defuse it. CT try to rescue the hostages and the terrorists try to stop them. The game is made ever so simple yet its so much fun to play which is more than I can say about the appauling Ghost Recon.

My first few weeks on Counter Strike I spent on a newbie server where anyone with decent kill ratio was immediatley kicked. It made learning the game a lot more fun and a lot easier. As I got better I went around and learnt different maps and servers. You must be pretty impatient if you can't search for a server with ant cheat technology and 24 admin. The engine even runs a check for you so you can customise your game.

You have obviously played VERY little of Counter Strike if you think that every server applies by those rules and that you think its anything like Ghost Recon. If you don't want to spend the time searching for a decent server then go play all the easy people on LIVE as your argument seems to be based around a game you have already played online and that you didn't come across any of that.

I can play against 1000's of other decent players that don't cheat or spend 24 hours a day playing it but if you want to go and play a far inferior title then go ahead, no skin off my nose.

Alastair, I think your time (or lack of it obviously) spent on Ghost Recon online undermines your argument against it.

As you admit, 1 host often kills. Not so on counterstrike a majority of the time. Plus most people play with respawns. Most Recon players don't. Defend games with semi decent players, no respawns, can be tense, highly skillful games and pretty exciting as each side gets into cover, rushes the objective, maneouvers etc

Whats more Ghost Recon is more user friendly for new people. My first time on it, a guy on the team basically went to high ground with a sniper scope, and relayed target info to the rest of the team. In other games people deply sensors and help their team. The more I play Live the more I find genuinelly great people on it.

Tell me the same can be said of Counter Strike and I'll eat my metaphorical hat...

Counter Strike runs fine on my PC at a ping no higher than 30 at all times. Aside from that I hate PC online gaming but this was really easy to setup and didn't cost me a penny :)

Spearhead on 56k against Yank BB users.

Not fair in the slightest.

Online gaming on the PC is about as much fun as having a Rottweiler eat your nipples.

I'll take Xbox Live over it any day. I see no reason why Counter Strike won't work on it in the slightest, it's not really 'that' hard to play....unless you're playing againt a pasty faced PC gamer who's married to his motherboard and uses his floppy drive as a pen*s pump.

Why can't we say pŁnis?

It's a medical term for crap sake.

If the controls work well then yes it will be amazing and will be what I get a LIVE kit for. However if it turns out that some American nerds devised their own keyboard and mouse to run on it I can't see it being any good at all. Condition Zero is out on the PC and version 1.6 will be included. The specifications aren't all that high for it so I will probably hold out and wait to see how the Xbox version plays with a controller. If it was something like Halo or Unreal then I am all for the controller over keyboard and mouse. However in this instance I think its crucial to have a keyboard and mouse for the type of shooter which Counter Strike is. Its nothng like Ghost Recon in anyway.

More skill the Ghost Recon? Ha! That is a very funny comment. It takes a lot more skill and practice to play Counter Strike than any other FPS game. Ghost Recon one shot anywhere kills more or less which makes it easy to get rid of enemies. On Counter Strike you need to be accurate all the time and because each weapon varies so much from the previous it is even harder to master the game fully. I play it and I aren't anything that you listed, in fact I only play on servers with admin and anit cheat technology so I vary rarely come across cheaters or spammers as they get found out and booted straight away. I haven't been booted from a server yet apart from the other night when this lad was angry at someone he obviously knew and I gave him abuse because he wouldn't shut up. He turned out to be admin and booted me.

Aside from that I have had no problems playing Counter Strike so I don't know what you were playing.
