You can't narrow it down to just four titles. Mario Kart will sell bucketloads and also sell consoles just as much as F-Zero, as will Pokemon Colosseum.

Viewtiful Joe and 1080 will require a bit of clever advertising (we know Nintendo can do it), and Billy Hatcher (again, with the right ad scheme) will entice fans of the Sonic series.

Then there's Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid to attract the mass market, and Rogue Squadron games always sell copies and systems solidly. All these games coupled with a price drop would set Nintendo right back on track, I think. Then the GameCube will be able to continue well throughout 2004 as the constant flow of quality titles keeps it going.

I thought that might be what you meant.
Yes, Nintendo do need to wake up and smell the coffee in certain areas.

I think it is the way Nintendo go about their games also, just the over use of certain styles of graphics is not damning - anime is becoming more popular in the UK with increased DVD releases and novels, yet it uses the same kinds of style. The stuff which is selling isn't realistic in the slightest, but just fun to watch, with great characters and music, even if it is sung in Japanese !!

Try as I might, I cannot raise any enthusiasm for Mario Kart, it is racing with cartoon characters, end of story. Burnout 2 was the game I most enjoyed recently, not realistic, just a damn fast game with tons of options, tracks etc

When I said realism I meant in how it views the industry and it's own moves within it. Mario Kart and it's own titles will not save it anymore.

I was just about to say this:

Realism. I think many gamers like/want realism.
You look at Half-Life 2, MGS3, GT4, Deus Ex 2, Halo 2 and see the ultra realistic approach taken, treating gamers like adults and giving them some jaw-dropping eye candy to enjoy. Nintendo on the other hand do go down the family-friendly route all too often. I don’t mind the cartoony style of Nintendo, but gamers want photo-realistic graphics and realistic sophisticated atmosphere nowadays, not what Nintendo produces.

MGS is 2004, so that leaves 3....Star Wars fans without a console who want one will go for Xbox and KOTOR and Galaxies, Final Fantast fans for FFX-2 on PS2, leaving F Zero GX, a first part title which I've commented on earlier. Nintendo needs realism in its strategy.

Maverick, Secondary Market = price the stuff can be shifted on for, Resident Evil is now worth about £7, pretty crap for a year old game, Sunshine is about £10, again crap, Rogue Leader, £7, crap. Cube's about £60, more for platinum ones, even Zelda is hovering around £20 for the strangely in vast supply limited edition.

I don't think people are too bothered about the cutting of console production. It's Nintendo's managment of it all - They are oblivious to the fact that the gamecube is slowly fading.

New games with easier challenges won't help either....

Nintendo need to get in gear...

I think that's a bit more accurate. I mean, "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg"? Come on...

NGC would.

Still, it's irrelevant. Now I'm buying PC games again I can only really afford two games systems, and the Xbox is going no where with titles like Counter Strike, KOTOR, Raven Shield and so on. Finding production has stopped has been the final deciding factor, other than a few class first party titles it has little future in my opinion. I've played and finished Zeldam Resi 0, Metroid, and tried Monkey Ball and Mario and other ones I was interested in. If Nintendo does do a price cut then it'll fuirther harm the secondary market prices...
