Some people in our office think its strange that I don't go out to the pub at least once a week, or go 'clubbing' at all.

If asked, I'd say I much prefer a night in with a good film or some friends around than to go to a noisy nightclub. I don't mind pubs, but I prefer them during the day, going out with friends for lunch and being able to actually hold a conversation, rather than having to shout over some live band or piped through music and then have to do some sort of acrobatic dance just to get to the bar and get served.

Maybe it's me getting old (don't hand me that pipe and slippers just yet), but I don't really see the attraction in spending my nights out at pubs and clubs.

Does anyone else feel the same, or the exact opposite? How do you like to spend your evenings?

There's a place for both. Clubs can be good (Stealth in Nottingham, Audio in Brighton, po na nas in Reading to name some) but it depends if you're in the mood and who you're with. Only fun if the music is good anyhow, and you can have a dance.

Cheers guys. 'twas a good night: plenty of people came and I got absolutely lashed - I finished off a bottle of sloe gin my old man made about three months before he died ... delicious, it was.

and your point of reference for that was obtained how?
besides, that`s still subjective - what if i like the sound of 2 cats going at it in a washing machine? it`s only worse according to you (and other people with no taste :P )

on one side we have internationally successful and original bands with an established and growing audience.... and on the other side we have you "wah wah, pseudo angst, everything is rubbish.. *cut/paste* "

gather your change my man or you`ll miss the bus to myspace.

The bands I've heard you talking about sound worse than two cats going at it in a washing machine.

Nobody should be playing loud music, it's just inconsiderate really.

I too enjoy the comfort of my own home. I don't drink and frankly the binge culture sickens and disgusts me. Besides, i have no one to drink to and odds are i'll get attacked by some drunk person.

I don't go to the disco because i can't dance. I won't dance.

that`s not getting old, that`s absolutely fair enough!
if those chimps ever played something GOOD on their phone then fair enough, but people with loud car stereos or noisy phones always, without fail, have the WORST taste in music ever.

Nah, I tell kids at the back of the bus to STFU all the time.

If they don't then I get a friend to play Slipknot.
