So I created a new one, for those that didn't throw it against the wall months ago.
I thought we could start up some kind of small forum league, featuring the best five scores for each chapter and a total. Something like this:
Chapter One:
1. Blank: 89 000 000 000 000
2. Valentino Rossi: 1
3. Whitestripes: 0
4. Cookie Monster: No score low enough
5. Someone else with a vague interest: Even lower.
Only there probably aren't enough people willing. But anyway, we need a new Ikaruga thread, so here it is. My chapter one highscore is now 3.5 million, 113 chain, if anyone cares.

I will get this game in January, when I actually have money to spend on something NOT Mario Kart, F-Zero, Soul Calibur 2 or Star Wars Rebel Strike.
Just improved my 3-1 loads. I get everything from the start now. I can almost reach 2 million on that chapter, which would increase my overall score a lot if I could do the other chapters at all today..
This git means I've had to go back up to my old spot of 21st rather than get into the top 20. I'll need a million more points to get there now.

Because they want to show off that they've hacked the code. They don't want people to think it's a realistic score.
He's not the first, there have been about 8 in the last 3 months, why don't they post a score of 35 or 36 million ? they're just too greedy.
He's probably done that on purpose just to prove he can hack the code.
Treasure are quite quick at removing silly scores, nothing above 37 million is possible. These cheats really should use their brains.
Yes! Without using the so-called "best" strategy for the big ships towards the end of 1-3, I managed to get the maximum number of bonus rows! That's a 74 chain by the end of 1-3. Of course, I fouled it up at the first part of 1-4, and I haven't been able to do it again since, but it IS possible, so there's not too much point me trying to learn the preferred strat of many others.
That would mean in theory my highest possible chain is 126. Once I've perfected this I need to learn how to consistently get 6 bonus rows from 1-4 and how to take advantage of them.
I'm not doing too badly on chapter two either - I can get 30 chains now on 2-1 without too much trouble, and I'm quite good at linking the bonus rings at the start of 2-2. I've had four bonus rings a few times now, maybe five is possible (although that would be very hard indeed).
Yep, I'm doing alright. Over 57 hours racked up now. Oh, and there's a cheater in the UK rankings who has put himself (or herself if you're watching, Germaine) in at 60 million. That means we all go down a place. So now I'm 22nd.
